Re: Updating Speakers

I got the bazooka's installed today. I had to cut the mounting bracket to clear the increased depth and make some spacers as well as use longer screws as the tweeter on the 2-ways sticks out the front more. It took about an hour and I must say the sound is a huge improvement. I haven't ridden yet (k...

I detest all stinging insects. I got popped on the ear by a wasp at my son's baseball practice a few weeks ago and looked like the elephant man for about 4 days... :?

Re: My best friend

I fully understand how you feel. I put my 12 year old Rottie down three years ago December 1st. I remember digging the grave, holding him in my arms while they gave him the injection (had to give him two, he was loyal). I cried like a baby doing both and get a little emotional now thinking about it....

Wanted: Trunk backrest pad '82 GL1100I

Mine has succumbed to the ravages of time, oxygen and moisture. The backplate has completely rusted out. I am thinking of making a new plate out of treated plywood, but thought I'd see what was available first.

Re: Accessories you had to have

I have the same setup as wingman and do not find it the slightest bit distracting.. I like having some music whilst I am cruising and sight seeing. If I switch into race mode, I do turn the stereo off, but seriously the wing was not built for high speed riding (I have other bikes for that), its a l...

N43Trilogy is the DOT approved version, same helmet, no top vent. I'd wear which ever one I like and not sweat it.

Four way flashers

Has anyone tried to add four way flashers to an Interstate (or Aspencade, I assume they'd be the same). Riding home in a bad thunderstorm yesterday, I kept tapping my brakes to increase my visibility to cagers, but flashers would have been nice.

Oil consumption, how much is normal?

My '82 gl1100i used between half and three-quarters of a quart in @3000 miles. I've parked it a lot on the side stand and I understand that this will increase consumption due to the left cylinders burning oil on start up. It's got 44,500 on the clock and I'm running 15w40 Rotella T for the record.

Did mine today. No external damage was evident, but when I pulled the connector apart, it was melted and one wire burnt. Do it NOW, before it's too late :D
