Re: Machine won't run well, even after professional carb cleaning

Your first step is to start the bike with full choke, immediately move the lever to 1\2 choke, after perhaps 1 minute move lever to no choke or maybe a little longer, They usually will not idle if you remove the choke right away.

Re: Non-E fuel

Neither my 76 nor my 93 runs any different with 87 octane e10 or 100%. Same performance as well as mpg. Can't tell the difference.

I use a radio knob. I cut the key and epoxy it into an OEM knob. It can not be used to open the trunk or fairing locked lid and can not be used in the ignition but if you lose a key you can take the short key to a locksmith to have him cut you a new one.

Ditto!

Re: 1989 GL1500 Aspencade cooling fans not coming on when hot

Define hot and why you think the fans should be on... My 1500 never gets hot enough to turn on the fans unless in extended stop and go traffic or idling for a long period of time.

No more manuals. Honda objected, claiming copyrite infringement.

Here is a full manual for the 1994. Very little difference.

If you don't exceed the 30/40 lbs you should be okay with the hitch rack.

Re: trailer or hitch rack

I would personally rather tow a trailer. Reason being, with a trailer, the tongue weight is adjustable. With a hitch rack you are limited to how much you can carry. Too much weight at the rear is a quick way to wear out the front tire as well as making for unstable handling.

Well, personally I like the 2 option choice. More chance for success. In 2 weeks I will be able to get an elevation shot.

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

The fuel leak by the sidestand could be the vacuum petcock. Look just front of the fuel cap. That is the petcock. If leaking, fuel will be running down the pan and out the overflow hose. Then it could also be the fuel bowls leaking from sitting so long. Or.......something! There is a method to putti...

Re: Speedometer

Sounds like you need to replace the speedo cable. You can pull it and lube but the teflon coating inside the tube wears out. They are not very expensive so I would just replace.

Re: help bleeding / flushing 1500 clutch

I just measured the nipple. :D It is 1/4 inch or 6.35 mm appx. So you need about 1/8 to 3/16 in. id hose. Just not larger. It needs to fit tight.

1\2 inch id hose is waaay to large. Not sure off the top of my head what size but check the bleed nipple. Needs to fit tight around it. Closer to 1/8 inch.

Re: help bleeding / flushing 1500 clutch

There is a "how to" on here regarding bleeding the 1500 clutch. Pliers are for cracking pecans and walnuts. There is nothing on a motorcycle that pliers should ever be used on. Only damage will occur. The head on a crescent is too big. You really should use a small box end or even an open end will d...
