Re: The loneliest road in America???

Thanks again guys. Dusty I should have known you have ridden that route. Thanks for the pics. I love the ones with your 1500 just sitting in the middle of the highway. Dave, due to time restraints (2 weeks) I won't be riding up through Colorado. Tentatively I plan on hitting the first day hard to Al...

Re: The loneliest road in America???

Thanks, this is exactly what I am looking for. We are taking that route so I was just wondering what to expect. We have been out west via the southern routes and the northern routes multiple times. Wanted something different this trip. I love the desert and wide open spaces of the western states. Tw...

With the large seal the open side faces the outside of the piston toward the spring. The open side of the small seal faces the inside toward the piston. I just completed mine this week. Good luck!

The loneliest road in America???

We are planning a ride to the Pacific NW, Oregon and Washington, this year from Oklahoma. I am thinking of riding through Utah and across Nevada as we have ridden the southern and northern routes. My question is: Has anyone been across Nevada on US 50? Looks like it is 400 miles of emptyness. Almost...

In case you don't know, the fuel pump only runs momentarily (about 2 seconds) when the key is turned on until the engine starts. I think the fuel pump is powered direcly from the ECM. May not be remembering correctly. Read through this thread. http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14339

The run to Houston and back over the last 3 days, I found quite a few driver-less cars, and they weren't the new ones made by Google either.

Re: The idiots are out there

The only real "close" calls I have ever had were from the idiots crossing the center line. Probably 6 or 7 times. Most of those have been relatively recent. One actually forced us to the shoulder. More than likely due to the driver suffering from textitis.....

Also make sure the bleed hose is tight around the bleeder nipple. If not, this can cause air bubbles.

I'm not trying to be a smart a.. ! but did you make sure the kill switch is in the on position? believe me I know, I have done this myself
Some later years of the 1500 will not operate the starter with the kill switch in the off position. I believe the 97 is one of them.

Re: fuel not getting thru to start engine

I know you stated it cranks hard but the 1500 won't start unless the battery has a full charge. The ECU requires at least 10.? volts to fire. Try charging the battery before you spend more time looking.

Re: 82 1100 Aspencade won't start - too much oil?

We get confused easily. lol. 10w40 should be just fine. And just so you don't get confused, the starter clutch is not in the starter it is internal to the engine. No way to check it. The most common cause for this is sludge build up around the clutch mechanism. Seafoam will dissolve the sludge into ...

Re: 82 1100 Aspencade won't start - too much oil?

Your initial post has been misinterprited by all of us for lack of clarity. As stated in the last post your problem all along has been the sprague clutch not working properly. Your next step should be to run a dose of Seafoam in the oil to dissolve any sludge and un-clog the starter clutch. Then one...

740 riders fatally injured could have survived had they been wearing a helmet.

Very surprised by this stat. "fact".?? Seems to me this should be a higher number.
