Re: 2000 GL1500 Final Drive Fluid

I would consider that a fair price. Lots of shops charge a minimum of 1 hour labor no matter what they do. And that includes dump time. Lol

My 76 has them also. I wish you hadn't asked though. Now I will wonder and probably never know why. lol

Re: Phillips had screws

Any tool is only as good as it's operator. ..as long as the operator uses said tool correctly. Had to add. My point exactly! Eg: using a flat blade screwdriver as a chisel. Wallering a hole larger with a drill bit. I've seen the idiots on American Chopper do exactly that. lol Using a blow torch to ...

I have found that some of the cheaper brands of brake cleaner contain acetone. Found out the hard way. I only use CRC brand. Just saying.

Re: 1976 carbs too lean. ?? Update

Turned out to be the fuel pump. I guess it just couldn't keep up with demand therefore all 4 cylinders ran lean but with no stumbling like usually happens with a faulty fuel pump.

Looks like a good rebuilder. Those wheels (Lester) are probably worth more than the bike.

Re: BATTERY CELLS GOING DRY

A high charging voltage will deplete electrolyte and should not be much greater than around 14.2V. A wet cell battery is old technology and has been stressed over and over on the forums to use an AGM type which eliminates the maintainance of checking levels. Ditto! Check alt. output voltage before ...

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like backrests

My 1500 came with one. I removed it after a few weeks. Rather ride without it. Seems to me to be too restrictive to movement. Wife didn't like it either.

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

I know this won't count toward a TAG but here is a photo from a previous unanswered request. Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. Last week. Hard to read but that reads 8,819 ft.

1976 carbs too lean. ??

So after rebuild 12 years ago and the bike running great since then she has developed a problem. The first symptom was stumbling at and around 2k to 2.5k rpm after riding about a mile. Thought I might as well pull the carbs to do a cleaning. Total disassembly. 20180518_091319.jpg I found no dirt or ...

Re: Machine won't run well, even after professional carb cleaning

Your first step is to start the bike with full choke, immediately move the lever to 1\2 choke, after perhaps 1 minute move lever to no choke or maybe a little longer, They usually will not idle if you remove the choke right away.

I use a radio knob. I cut the key and epoxy it into an OEM knob. It can not be used to open the trunk or fairing locked lid and can not be used in the ignition but if you lose a key you can take the short key to a locksmith to have him cut you a new one.

Ditto!

Re: 1989 GL1500 Aspencade cooling fans not coming on when hot

Define hot and why you think the fans should be on... My 1500 never gets hot enough to turn on the fans unless in extended stop and go traffic or idling for a long period of time.

Re: It must be me! "manuals download"

No more manuals. Honda objected, claiming copyrite infringement.

Here is a full manual for the 1994. Very little difference.
