Re: oil leak

Valve cover gaskets, cam shaft seals, or perhaps the tach cable o-ring on right side. Left side could also be a shift shaft seal.

Re: OIL TASTING

FM-USA: I see you changed your signature line. Yeah tact seems to be lacking in my response. Not enough to wish death upon us however. Sorry if we have offended. You have to admit that tasting ones used oil comes as a shocker.

Re: diesel oil?

I have heard of using heavy duty diesel oil in the GL 1100. I think I recall Randakks suggesting its use, Rotella being the oil of choice. Is anyone running this in their bike? Of course you cant use car oil as it breaks down way to fast but diesel sounds like it would work. Thoughts? I use diesel ...

Re: Which tire?

I have an e4 on the rear of my 1500. 5k miles. I couldn't be happier with it. I have ridden in all conditions including rain slick twisties. Never a problem. Tire replaced was an e3. I hated that tire. Removed it early because of the noise and cupping. Sounded like I was riding on a tractor tire. Th...

Well that is not an oem device. Can't find much on google about ARS ignition system. Couple of hits include a remote start system and also a breathalyzer  . ??? Do you still have the original points ignition?

First impression is (not impressed and disappointed) but I would never spend that much for a bike anyway.

I can't see the options list on my tablet.???

Re: Just acquired a 1983 GL1100 Interstate

Looks like she cleans up pretty good. Wow! That's the biggest set of light bars I've ever seen. Must weigh a ton. Sounds like you have a good plan. After sitting that long you should definitely replace the timing belts. If one of them breaks you will suffer valve and or piston damage. Not a good thi...

Re: Oil Viscosity

I would not hesitate to use the Lucas. The Honda manual states that 20/50 is ok above a certain temperature ??? not sure of temp so 10/50 would be even more better. The 10 weight should prevent starter clutch problems (which would only happen at very low temps anyway).

One fork has an extra part called (oil lock piece) that accounts for the difference. I have no idea what it's purpose is.

That is exactly what it is. If you don't have a hitch just remove it.

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

10.5 compression ratio. Premium gas required???

In general I'm not impressed. Honda's idea of aerodynamics: Narrow the fairing and windshield and then have to move the rider forward to reduce wind buffeting. Ingenious!
I'll keep my 1500.

That is the air cutoff valve. It prevents back firing during hard decel. Enrichens the mixture at decel.

Re: Aftermarket 90* valve stems

I installed a set of those a couple of years ago. It seems the metal (Some sort of brass) was so soft that just tightening the nut to compress the rubber seals stripped the threads. Cheap C*%$#* crap. ygwypf.

Way to go! And just so you know. Your 1500 was designed to run on 87 octane gas. It will run even better with 87. Premium in this case doesn' mean better.

I used the pivot method one time. Never again! Took longer and like you I had to remove the bags anyway. Removal of the bags only takes a few minutes so I'll stick to that method.

How did you determine the tank only holds 4.5 gallons? If you are relying on the fuel gauge chances are it is inaccurate.
