Re: Goldwing winterized

Once it gets much below 30 or the snow flies i don't ride much. But down to 30 it ins't too bad. Just too dangerous when there is snow or frozen puddles.

Re: Goldwing winterized

Its too bad you have to put it up for winter. Luckily living in Central Illinois i get a little more riding time. I am still riding to work almost everyday. Of course most of the people at work think i am nuts riding it when it is down to 30 degrees, but it sure beats the alternative. I will put it ...

Re: Cup holder for my 82 wing.

I offer wonder what people think when they see me drinking something going down the road. What did you make the cup holder out of littlebeaver. I am sure i could just make on of them. Most of the time i just put my cup in the left pocket of the fairing. as long as it isn't too full it doesn't presen...

I too have noticed the crotch rocket riders don't wave much. Maybe they are afraid of removing one hand leaning over like that. LOL

Re: Tires

So far i am happy with the pirelli. I have 8,000 miles and tire still looks pretty good. so i will get more miles out of this tire then i have on either the Dunlop or the continentals.

Re: Guy laid it down right in front of me

Age has nothing to do with dressing like that. I know a guy who is about 60. He rides all the time in shorts tank top and flip flops. I prefer boots, pants and at least a shirt if not a jacket.

If that means it is running and you are ready to ride, than by all means that is good. I gave $300.00 for my 83 7 years ago. About $500.00 to get it going. I am still enjoying it very much. Hope you get as much pleasure with yours as i have.

Re: Changing your system to LEDs for safety

Is it absolutely necessary to change the flasher in the system because of the LEDs or is this something you just did? btw your bike looks great. That is an awesome color. Never imagine i would like a green motorcycle.

I changed the bearings in mine also. It really wasn't too bad a job. With the age of the bike i think it is a smart move anyway.

Re: How much electrical power do I have to spare?

I had 55 watt lights on mine, but wouldn't keep up. I ended up taking mine off. Now i will have to think about getting some LED lights. I really like having the extra lights, but couldn't use them with the drain it created.
I thank you for the info also.

Re: Oil Filter-oil

I have been using Honda motorcycle oil in mine. Where do you get the Valvoline motorcycle oil? I was curious if regular oil could be used. What is the difference in that over motorcycle oil? The engine being watercooled in goldwings the same as a car.

Re: Stranded on the side of the road

I stopped one night to offer assistance to a young man on a scooter. A wire had come loose and he was trying to work on the scooter using the light from his cell phone. I turned my bike around to use the headlight. He had a buddy on the way but we were able to get it going again so he made the next ...

Timing belt problem

I am replacing timing belts on my 83 wing. I removed the covers and rotated to get T1 in view. My problem is camshaft pulleys are 180 out. The up is down and marks that should be line up with marks on covers are toward inside. Not sure what i need to do at this point. I wouldn't have thought it woul...

GL 1100 tires

Looking for information on tires for my 83 wing. Am currently running continental. I get about 8000 miles out of rear. What tires work best for others, perhaps get better mileage?
