Re: 1500 ticking noise

I had the exact same ticking sound in the rear with my "88 that would get faster and slower as i'd change speed , and it would get even worse if my wife was with me ( more weight on the bike ) .
My problem was the rear bearing in the drive train !!!

Good luck

Re: bike quits on highway

I am writing this in hopes that you can tell me if my problem sounds familiar to yours. My problem only happens at speeds between 60-70 mph. The bike seems to lose power and I have to throttle back then on again just to get speed up again. All the lights and power stay on but its like no fuel or no...

Re: Trailer wiring diagram

You'll have to go with a 5 wires plug , unlike cars that has the same wire for brake lights & flashers , on your bike you have flashers & brakes lights seperately , so you'll need 5 wires : 1 ground , 1 parking light , 1 brake light , 1 right flasher , & 1 left flasher . I tried to do it with my 200...

It doesn't mean that changing the brushes is enough , your stator just might be grounded , i would have it checked by a certified technician !!!

Re: side lights

Open your saddlebags and inside the cover you'll see 3 " 8mm " cap nuts at the bottom of the cover , just take those off and you'll be able to take the reflectors off and see if they have bulbs or not !!!!

You can get a pair of pliers at Canadian Tires exactly designed for oil filter , they're about $10 , as for ordering them online , i'm not sure you can , unless maybe the Canadian Tires website !!!!

Re: final drive noise

I would also check the differentiel bearing , i had a clicking noise that i would only hear at low speed up to about 50m/hour and it was the bearing , and bad news , you can't change one of the two bearings , if its your problem , you need to change the diff all together !!!!

Good luck !!!!

Did they take the wheels or calipers off to make the repairs ??? cuz if so , they probably just forgot to pump the brake lever after they put the wheel or caliper on !!!!

Re: How to change an ignition switch

That is one hell of a job , i changed a few when i was workin as a mecanic in a Honda shop , the bolts are hard to see cuz they're between the fork and the fairing , and they don't have heads to prevent theives from changing the switch in a few seconds and leaving with the bike . The new bolts have ...

Re: Oil fitler replacement tool

First of all , the piece they want you to take off is the lower cowl for easier access , but you don't need to cuz you can access the filter easily , and the tool i use is a pair of pliers for oil filter , and they sell those at Canadian Tires for around $10 !!!!

Re: Clutch Issue

If you're looking for a Goldwing around those years , all '84 & '85 Aspencades and even few Interstates are at risk for stator problems , i used to be a mecanic in a Honda shop and Honda would garanty them until 1990 cuz they had problems with them !!!!

Re: Testing my Alternator on my 1985 GL1200!

If you want to test your stator you`ll have to start your bike and then unplug the connector with the 3 yellow wires right next to the battery , there`s 2 tests you can do , first one : on the connector end that comes from the stator with an ohm meter just makes sure there`s no continuity between ea...

Re: GL 1200 Aspencade got to the stop sign and died

Also i would check those 3 yellow wires at the connector right besides the battery , they`re the stator wires , if you still have the connector , just take the connector off and weld the wires together otherwise it will end up burning your stator and you don`t want that trust me , its a $1000 plus j...
