Re: 2018 Cleveland Motorcycle Show Report - Pictures! Video!

rarely does the tach get below 3200 RPM I take it you are getting your machine into overdrive as early as you can? I have seen a number of videos of riders out with their bikes and have counted the gears as they change up, it is clear some are very happy to cruise along at 50/60mph in 4th gear, and...

Re: 2018 Cleveland Motorcycle Show Report - Pictures! Video!

Thanks for this, great photos, intelligent observations, and meaningful criticism. It is a pity (increasingly expensive) motorcycle magazines can't produce something similar. I am surprised you couldn't get into the reserved for the press, pre-opening bit of the show which I am sure took place. Just...

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

Total Balderdash crap I didn't say this applies to the US, I merely asked the question. But it certainly applies in the UK. Increasingly, insurance companies are constantly seeking ways to minimise or even avoid expensive settlements, and they make it very clear in their application literature that...

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

https://www.motorcyclistonline.com/six- ... -gold-wing It was interesting what the designer said about using car tyres on a motorcycle. Don't know about the USA, but here I suspect if you were involved in an accident (whether or not your fault) you would find the insurance company wriggling earnest...

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

How did you find the Harman GPS compared with the Garmin GPS? Apologies ndfan77, I was speaking tongue in cheek. My MZ250 is a single cylinder, a two-stroke motorcycle built in what was then communist East Germany. It is about as basic as they come, although mine was built for export so has luxurie...

My wife and children clubbed together and bought me a brand new Harley-Davidson with all the trimmings. Then I woke up and put on my new socks.

Re: New Year's Day ride out

called for engines to be started and reved for one minute as a greeting to the New Year. It sounded great but must have upset the weather gods, ten minutes later the heavens opened and it hammered down. Clearly, all that carbon caused some climate change and hence the rain. Hang your head in shame....

What I was referring to, is that my riding buddies want me to be "full screen" in their mirrors...
Ah, sorry. I thought you were referring to lorry drivers, the ones with long, high trailers.

Re: Why did he crash ?

Sorry, but I will NOT adhere to always being seen in someone's rear view mirror. It is my ride, and I am the boss, and I WILL BE 5-7 seconds behind you.... If you are at least 5 seconds behind the vehicle in front then I cannot see any circumstances where you will not be in that driver's mirrors at...

I am afraid we are no longer allowed to use the "c" word (colonial) without, at the same time, beating our breasts and apologising for our sinful past.

Re: Goodbye Fellow Wingers

All the joy of being out in the open without the helmet. A long time ago, when my wife and I were in our 20s, we took our MG Midget to southern France, eventually staying in St Tropez. It was lovely driving with the top down but we made the mistake of not realising how hot the sun was. We ended up ...

Re: Twas the night before Christmas - Riders Style

Excellent.

I too was tempted by a BMWr1200, complete with all its fancy gizmos. But then I thought, "you'll still miss the 'Wing come spring". So I went out to the garage and gave it a wax polish.

What on earth is a "Doo rag"? It sounds rather lavatorial so perhaps I am better not knowing.

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

For us taller riders, space is limited.
For the amount of money they cost, one would think they could put more adjustment into the seats/pegs etc. Even the cheapest cars on the market have a driver's seat which adjusts in several different planes, ditto the steering wheel.

The biggest problem with a wheel lock is you will forget it is there and try to take off with it in place
Not really an issue for Goldwings I know, but the same problems apply to disc locks as well.

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

I wonder though if there would be any demand for a modern-day lower cost Silverwing Yes, I have wondered this too. Honda's NT700 Deauville fulfilled this need but inexplicitly, they stopped making it and replaced it with the Integra, a ghastly half scooter, an automatic bike that is neither one thi...
