Re: Austone Taxi Tire

I know this tire change is fairly popular to do, but doesn't it severely decrease the handling on twisties? It may be fine for casual cruising but can't handle as well as a good MC tire for spirited riding. Anyone regret making the switch? The Austone tire is more than capable of any spirited ridin...

Re: Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

It was attached to the front of the bike with the screws supplied, and after seeing how much it stuck out on both sides, it was immediately removed and placed back in the original packaging. these are your words and the very definition of used. You bolted it on, that means it fit. you just didnt li...

+1 on the shifter pivot, new seal at the same time and you will think you have a new bike even with the heal toe shifter. this is the design that the factory should have done since day one 8-)

Doesn't the Neon coil not require the resistor? I can see from the Neon coil that Todd made that it doesn't have a resistor.
no resistor needed, simply wire it up and bolt it on, ask Little beaver how well it works. 8-)

Re: GL1100 alternator conversion (how I did mine)

The 2 inch pulley you see in the pics came from another alternator salvaged from a wrecking yard. check with an alternator repair shop to see what they can supply you with, or have one cut to your specs at a machine shop. I spent alot of hours in the wrecking yard looking for parts that will work fo...

The widest you can fit in the swing arm is a 195 CT, there is no more room for anything wider. I have been running a 195-55-16 for a couple of years now, it works well. 8-)

Re: Question for the dark siders

The Austone Taxi tire is a very good choice for your first Darkside experience. You can order it from Universal Tire. It is slightly taller than the stock MC tire and will fit with zero issues other than maybe having to use a zip tie to pull the inner fender plastic forward a tad. The taller tire wi...

The 1100 doesn't start making real power till after 3000 rpm. Shifting early just lugs the engine ,let it spin. The redline is up at 8000 and will running all day at this rpm, now I am not saying you should keep it redlined all the time but the engine engine will do it. Let it spin, you will be surp...

I really liked the Avon Venom X on my 82Aspy, they are no longer available and have been replaced by the Avon Cobra. Good grip wet or dry, light neutral handling, good mileage. I still use them on the front of my 1500, Darkside rear. What ever tire you choose make sure it is rated for the weight of t...

I usually go to my local bearing supply house with the old seal in hand . Have had very good luck finding seals that match. As for the orings ,just give them the size and they usually match them too. 8-)
