Re: Widest tire

The widest you can fit in the swing arm is a 195 CT, there is no more room for anything wider. I have been running a 195-55-16 for a couple of years now, it works well. 8-)

I guess the problems never end when you're running a big website, do they WA? As the old expression goes, "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din." I can't imagine how you manage it, but we ALL appreciate all the hard work you put into keeping the world's best 'Wing site alive & well! I second th...

Most can't believe I have a12volt fridge, 12volt electric blankets, on demand hot water for showers or doing the dishes. Re: Question for the dark siders

The Austone Taxi tire is a very good choice for your first Darkside experience. You can order it from Universal Tire. It is slightly taller than the stock MC tire and will fit with zero issues other than maybe having to use a zip tie to pull the inner fender plastic forward a tad. The taller tire wi...

I had the same issue with my 86 Interstate, turned out to be the pulse generators. Use the search feature to find out how to test yours. It's a fairly easy fix 8-)

Re: GL 1500 Fuel Capacity?

Ya same for me. Use the trip meter all the time. At 300 km I start thinking about getting fuel. At 350 km I stop thinking and get fuel at the next available station. I'd hate for my wife to have to push this thing any distance with me steering it. Bwahahahaha, now that's funny. Thanks for the visua...

Re: Shifting Points

The 1100 doesn't start making real power till after 3000 rpm. Shifting early just lugs the engine ,let it spin. The redline is up at 8000 and will running all day at this rpm, now I am not saying you should keep it redlined all the time but the engine engine will do it. Let it spin, you will be surp...

Re: Tires '83 GL1100

I really liked the Avon Venom X on my 82Aspy, they are no longer available and have been replaced by the Avon Cobra. Good grip wet or dry, light neutral handling, good mileage. I still use them on the front of my 1500, Darkside rear. What ever tire you choose make sure it is rated for the weight of t...

I usually go to my local bearing supply house with the old seal in hand . Have had very good luck finding seals that match. As for the orings ,just give them the size and they usually match them too. 8-)

Re: GL1500 Wing Heat Radiator Accessory Vents

You are a funny guy Stu. Yes I am happy to say that my 1500 is back on the road after the deer strike of 2014. I have been busy burning up as much fuel as the budget allows, " testing" my reassembly skills and my memory of where all those pieces went and in which order. Only a couple of leftover par...

Yes they are interchangeable, moly grease the splines, bolt it on and ride. Although replacing the seals in the leaky one isn't hard to do.8-)

Re: Rear car tire for GL1500SE tug

It's an easy problem to solve, when it's time I pull the wheel, final drive and driveshaft. Re grease and reinstall. There is no rule that says you have to wait till the tire change. It's just part of the maintenance schedule like changing oil or brake pads, when it's time it's time! 8-)

Re: Rear car tire for GL1500SE tug

I for one am using a 195-55-16 General tire Altimax Hp tire on my 97 1500SE , so yes it fits and works very well. The 60 series would work just as well but didn't come in that size in that tire. Those that say it won't work don't know what they are speaking about as far as this is concerned 8-) ani...
