The AM reception on my radio is very poor. I've owned other 1800's and 1500's but never had this issue. Any thoughts on the possible causes?
Do you have aftermarket LED lights on your bike? Headlights, brake lights, etc?

Re: side stand switch not working, starts in gear

The switch is a double pole switch. When it is down, it connects the output of the indicator to ground, which lights the indicator. When it is up, it connects the sense line of the ECU to ground, which allows the bike to start/run when shifted into gear. SideStand.GIF Do the test mentioned above. If...

Re: polishing a windscreen

MOST shields for bikes are Poly Carbonate. It depends. There are far more acrylic (Plexiglas) windshields than there are polycarbonate (Lexan/Lucite), mainly due to price. Acrylic is shinier, while polycarbonate is stronger. Acrylic is less expensive but brittle easier to crack. Polycarbonate is mo...

Re: Phillips had screws

Stripped the screw on the bottom of my right side mirror while installing Muth mirrors. Very frustrating for sure. Luckily a screw extractor worked nicely and happy the Muth mirrors came with replacement screws. I would like to buy a kit of JIS screw drivers though. Wonder if I could find them on A...

Re: Stator bolt

My stator bolt on my 82 Gl1100 won't stay tight, any suggestions? I've torqued it to the 58 ft lbs like the manual says to. But after 300 miles it backs out and makes a horrible racket. I know it's a design flaw, and I really don't want to have to pull the motor to get at it. Thanks for the help in...

Re: Brand new starter...only works intermittently

I checked the ground wire to frame connection. It was clean. I thought about the solenoid but haven’t tried that yet. I will check that next. But I don’t know about the dogbone fuse you mentioned. Can you tell me where that is? Have a look here: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=28...

Re: centerstand

Does it matter what kind of shoes you're wearing to put a bike up on the centerstand? Believe it or not, but I have YET to put the bike up on the center-stand by myself. Maybe it's a case of not doing the method correctly, but I want to be able to do it and I've been told that I'll never do it just...

Re: Changing Brake and Clutch Fluid

The bleeder bolt was sucking air by the threads so I decided to take the saddle bag off to put thread tape on it and check the pads while in there. I was able to get it open through the hole, but the hose kept coming off also. Where did you get the stainless lines? I feel I’ll need to replace the f...

Re: Brand new starter...only works intermittently

Let's make sure...you have checked the dogbone fuse, right?

Let's remove the solenoid from the equation. When it is not starting, short across the solenoid terminals with an old screwdriver (there will be sparks) and see if that makes the engine crank (make sure it's in neutral first!).

Re: O/D light,Switch Location

Warning! Dumb question ahead. If you're in 5th gear, not on the new ones with 6 gears,of course, aren't you always in OD? Or are some folks using that OD light as a way to know they're in 5th gear already? 5th gear is OD. OD just refers to the gear ratio, and the 5th gear happens to be an overdrive...

Re: Changing Brake and Clutch Fluid

I did mine recently as well, but I rebuilt my front master cylinder (it was overdue). My rear master needs rebuilding too, and I have the parts on hand, but...I've been putting it off, because it's a hell of a job. I rebuilt all the calipers a couple years ago, as well as replacing (most) of the bra...

Great review and photos of the half cover. I am shopping for one now and this one looks to be strong and reinforced in the right areas. We get a lot of wind here and the sun will bake the seat, handgrips, etc while even on a short stop. Shade is at a premium in South Texas during the summer. What d...

Re: OMG Make it Stop!

Now I have to go examine some of the other accounts created around then as well - they often create a number of accounts and leave some of them idle as "sleeper cells" - then in a week, month, two months from now, they'll log on and start up again with one of those. I just usually catch them within ...

Re: Mini Fridge Review

I have a Koolatron cooler, works on the same exact principal, but it's big - like ice chest big. I have to watch it, because left running for a couple days, it will freeze things left inside it, and the condensation inside turns to ice.

Re: Additional Lights - Need to be seen

I saw a video recently where a guy on a bike was rear-ended by a girl texting on her phone. She gets out and is traumatized, crying, promising that she will NEVER text again, etc...police come, all the rest of it. The bike is damaged, but rideable. The girl gets ticketed. After all the legal dealing...

Mini Fridge Review

I hate drinking warm drinks - I am not a coffee drinker, hot chocolate or tea, basically I like my drinks COLD. I have a cooler bag that I sometimes put my drinks in so I can carry them in my bike. I thought perhaps a small active cooler fridge might be a good option. After shopping around a bit, I ...
