The bike must always be on the center stand when adjusting the suspension.

Re: Off Roading Goldwing

I wouldn't expect the universal joint to last too long running at such an angle all the time - look at how far down the swingarm is positioned when just at rest. But it's a nice conversion job!

Re: Jumps and stalls when put in gear

More likely that there is air in the line, and the clutch is not being completely disengaged because of it. And the air is there because it was sucked in after the reservoir was drained. So fix the problem causing the drained reservoir, refill and bleed the clutch system, and I would bet the problem...

Re: Blackwing Fork brace Installtion

I had a Superbrace on my GL1500, and it was good - but not great, particularly when hitting bumps in corners. When I took the Superbrace off and replaced it with a Blackwing brace, it improved 1000%. The wobble was gone, and the unstable front end was transformed into a solid and stable one.

Re: GL1500 turn signal to led

I don't know what a "quad load balancer" is, but if it's just some power resistors, then yes, it will work, and the auto cancel will still function.

Re: air compressor 'DESICCANT' for my 1984??

I've never tried the microwave, but being that the point is to bake the moisture out of it, I have always used the toaser oven, set to broil. It takes just a few minutes, and works very well. See: How to service your air compressor dessicant

Re: clutch and front brake master cylinder

hey everyone, how easy is it to change the sight glass on the master cylinders? I ordered a set from Ebay, but it didn't come with instructions The hardest part is getting the old one out and cleaning the corrosion and mess from the old one. You can press fit the new one but I would use a very smal...

Re: Oil filter confusion

Fram filters, once upon a time, were of excellent quality. Now they are pretty much bottom of the barrel, cheaply made and the worst performing filters available. Spend a couple dollars more and get a decent filter for your bike. Have a read through this: http://www.austincc.edu/wkibbe/oilfilterstud...

Re: GL1100A with sidecar

Those lights on the light bar are fairly common, used by a lot of manufacturers. There are LED replacements that you can buy, lens, frame, everything. I put them on my 1100's rail, and they worked great.

Thanks for the quick response Dave. It's no illusion. I've got a couple of pictures it shows up well in, but evidently I don't have enough posts to attach them yet.

Re: Backfire when ignition switched on

Nice idea, and definitely the latching relay circuit (for safety). Not only will this help with this problem, it will help with engine wear - it means your crank and pistons won't be absorbing the massive power pulses of ignition without there first being oil pressure lubricating the cylinder walls ...

i've read some threads here about using balancing beads, but no one has mentioned whether or not they will work inside of a tube. what say you?? has anyone tried putting balancing beads inside a tube tire? Yes, they do work in tubes. They state that they will, and I have used them inside tubed tire...

Any experiences (+/-) on riding the Baja? Bucket List trip on the planning board. Idea is down from Nogales to Topolobampo, & then cross the Sea of Cortez to La Paz; then on down around the bottom @ Cabo & then back up the Baja to Tecate, or Mexicalli. Comments & suggestion encouraged? If you read ...

Wingadmin, Are you far enough north to get the lake effect?
Oh yeah, we get lots of lake effect snow - only 10 miles from the lakeshore, so the cold dry wind picks up all the moisture from the lake, then dumps it right on us as snow.

I just bought a 2018 tour model. Have not yet put it up on the centerstand. Re: A comparison between the 2018 and 2001 GoldWing

A shame. Especially cause it's got a warehouse full of farkles. Farkles are only of value to he who paid for them. My '02 had $4,000 of Kury chrome stuff on it when I bought it, and I got it for $500 below market at a dealership. Local market, not the typical dealer markup prices... other 1800s in ...

Re: New to the Wing

I don't know what terminal size 280 connector you got (for which gauge wire) but there is a lot of power going through that connection - upwards of 20 amps when the battery is discharged or the bike is under heavy electrical load. Any resistance will generate heat, which is why you saw the melting i...

Re: Can beads put a tire out of balance

I used a similar bead balancing ring on the front steer tires on my semi-tractor. They balanced the big tires perfectly and greatly increased the life of my front tires. This was about 15 years ago when a pair of steer tires for my truck cost over $700; the bead rings were about $50 a pair and get ...

Does it do this if the bike has been sitting for a while? Or does it do it if you have just shut it off, and then turn it back on? Or both?
