It was in gear this time, but it happens in neutral if going over 40 on the road.
From everything you've described, it sounds 100% like driveline - output shaft, universal joint, driveshaft spline, etc. Again, I'd check the driveline for excessive lash.

Re: Rear drive fill plug broke

I've never seen a screw extractor that big! Yes, #1 in your diagram is the correct part, and they are readily available, as Honda used them on MANY different bikes. Don't forget the washer, part 34 on your diagram. As for extracting it, I agree, filing would run the risk of getting metal in the fina...

Front pads: H45106-MT8-305 (both front rotors - you'll need two sets) for all years, 1988-2000.
Rear pads: H06435-MT8-405 for all years, 1988-2000.

Re: clutch

So where is the clutch fluid going? If it's leaking into the crankcase, riding your bike 15 miles could be the last trip your engine will ever make.

Re: Off Roading Goldwing

I've seen a few different two wheel drive bikes, with three different drives. One was the hydraulic drive, like you describe. I've seen another with a chain (!) drive to the front wheel (figure that one out), and one with a cable drive, where the torque to the front wheel was sent down a beefy flexi...

Re: GL1100 Clutch or trans issue

Yes, a universal joint would be a good candidate. When it's under load from the engine, it's tightened up, but when you pull the clutch in, the wheel is flinging it around. If it's clanking, and if it is the universal joint, there's a good chance is so far gone that it's close to doing damage (if no...

Re: ignition/cruise control, shutoff module replacement

I just did that very thing this last weekend. They go down to the connector that clips on top of the right side fan shroud, it's not very hard to do. You'll need to remove the right fan/shroud to unplug them. Not necessarily. It's not easy to do, but I have done "keyhole surgery" and disconnected/r...

Re: Oil leak oil pan

That is the water pump weep hole, or "telltale hole" - it's telling you that a seal in your water pump has failed, and instead of contaminate your coolant with engine oil, it's leaking out this hole. You need to now have a read through How to remove and replace your water pump.

Yup, I get that sometimes, too. I think it's whatever you get used to. I know when I was in flight school, flying for hours a day and once in a rare while driving my car, I used to get in my car and feel less than secure because I wasn't tightly strapped in with a a full harness over each shoulder. ...

Re: AUDIO ANTENNA

Keep in mind that an antenna booster is just an amplifier, and it can only amplify a signal that is already there. If the signal is so weak that it is buried in noise, then the noise will be amplified just as much as the signal. You need to make sure your antenna is in good working order, and feedin...

So...I don't see anyone putting this on when they have floorboard...The bolt holding the front of the floorboard is a long bolt also holding the case guard. Don't see any way to have it and the brace?? Am I missing something? It would depend on the floorboard manufacturer - they fit differently dep...

I see a crack forming in your chin spoiler: Crack.jpg I would sand away the paint on the back side of that, then take a small piece of ABS plastic and glue it in place on the back (where it's not visible) with some ABS cement (or MEK, if you can't find any). That will stop that crack from progressin...

Re: Can beads put a tire out of balance

Avon has no such limitation on its warranty: http://www.avonmoto.com/warranty/standard-warranty/ Dunlop however has a huge list of things that void its warranty - including putting wet or dry balancing media (anything except air) into the tire, pulling a trailer, new (or repaired) tires not being "r...

I wouldn't expect the universal joint to last too long running at such an angle all the time - look at how far down the swingarm is positioned when just at rest. But it's a nice conversion job!

Re: Jumps and stalls when put in gear

More likely that there is air in the line, and the clutch is not being completely disengaged because of it. And the air is there because it was sucked in after the reservoir was drained. So fix the problem causing the drained reservoir, refill and bleed the clutch system, and I would bet the problem...

Re: Blackwing Fork brace Installtion

I had a Superbrace on my GL1500, and it was good - but not great, particularly when hitting bumps in corners. When I took the Superbrace off and replaced it with a Blackwing brace, it improved 1000%. The wobble was gone, and the unstable front end was transformed into a solid and stable one.

I don't know what a "quad load balancer" is, but if it's just some power resistors, then yes, it will work, and the auto cancel will still function.

Fram filters, once upon a time, were of excellent quality. Now they are pretty much bottom of the barrel, cheaply made and the worst performing filters available. Spend a couple dollars more and get a decent filter for your bike. Have a read through this: http://www.austincc.edu/wkibbe/oilfilterstud...
