Re: Is this the correct way to hold a golf club?

I had problems with my back at 50 but I don't remember growing things like that on my chest.

Re: Add accessories or not? Opinions please.

We can all have 'original wings' by using add ons then taking them off. The value I see is in mileage/condition/and number of owners. Of course the mileage is now down to you. If you want it to gain money then purchase a second bike and put the first in a garage and just look at it every so often bu...

Re: Blowing taillight fuse and losing gauges

Do you know if any previous owner has added extra lights to the rear and then removed them. It could be that they have connected some to the wiring with scotchlock connectors (UK name) which work by simply crimping a piece of metal across the wire with the extra wire connected in place. If this has ...

Re: Rear brakes problem 2004 Goldwing

If you are not getting full contact with both pads then your old ones should show you ie more wear on one side. I would suggest that you clean and grease the pins that the brake slides back and forth on. One is secure on the caliper bracket and the other on the body of the brake block (they fit into...

Re: Charging issue

The first thing I would check is the fuse in the starter button/reverse switch. If this goes it does prevent the battery from charging. If this is ok I would then look at any 'added' wires to see if there is a dead short causing charging problems. If you still have one of the 'old' Alternators then ...

Re: Rear brakes problem 2004 Goldwing

Initially I would check for grit that has fallen into the pad when you changed them, however you should not get a 'metal to metal' sound when you have replaced the pads. Did you replace the fronts as well? Don't forget that the front left and rear brakes work together and therefore you may need to c...

Re: 250 miles on

Was your outfit pulling before the fork leak? If not I would suggest that you have lost too much oil without realizing it and this is the cause of the wobble. To stop the leak is a simple case of replacing the seals. I would, at the same time, replace the top and bottom bushes which tend to wear and...

Re: Buying used: Frame Recalls- Should I skip the 2001-2004'

The frame recalls were the earlier models ie 2001 and this would have taken into account the ones that did not get sold immediately ie up to 2003. By 2004 I believe the problem had been solved so no worries. Once checked they should be OK. I don't know if there is a time limit on recalls in the US b...

Re: 2004 GL 1800A reverse not working.

I take it that you have the engine running when you engage the reverse if not there may not be enough power in the battery to reverse your bike. Also do the usual things of checking the cutout is not switch over and the side stand is up. If these are all done it does sounds more like a connection pr...

Re: GL1800 Tail Light Assemblys Acorn Nuts would not break l

Is there movement enough to slide a thin piece of wire behind the holding nut. If so slide the wire aroung and the pull to one side - hopefully locking the bolts into position. There should not be too much pressure needed to undo the nut. Once off you can always superglue the bolts etc.

Re: Need advice buying 2002-2004

There are no problems with the ABS in fact the brakes are so good that the ABS is not used unless you grab too hard etc. If the owner has had the frame checked he should have a ticket showing it - if not then, as suggested, do a Vin check. Just remember when you do ride it the feel is different and ...

Re: What's everyone's two-wheeled History?

I started out with a 1965 BSA C15, year later got a 1970 BSA Lightning which I had for about 3yrs before someone kindly dropped some ball barings in the plug holes. Rebuilt the engine to 750 which gave me a top speed of about 130 mph (showing 135/140 on the clock) which was great but the brakes were...

Re: The curse of the Wings...you cannot go back.

I have had various bikes in my 44yrs of riding from a 250 bsa to an Ariel Sq 4 (wish I'd kept that) a couple of hondas and a couple of BMWs. I enjoyed all of them at their respective times but I think that it is a different type of enjoyment from the wings. Owned Goldwings for the last 20yrs and def...

Re: Towing a Trailer;- will it void my warranty?

If you want a tow hitch why not go to the dealer you bought the bike from and have them fit one. At the price you have paid for the bike the cost of fitting would be negligeble also if there is any subsequent fault with the bike then you can always place the fault at the dealer as he 'should not fit...

Re: 2002 GL1800 Reading radio display

Sorry Winger53,
I read both and obviously did not seperate them.
I would suggest that the 'quiet' button on the left handlebar is pressed in as this cuts out the other functions to do with the volume.
As you have replaced your battery the 'Welcome' will have to be reset.

Have you both checked the Multi-display control switch connector. This has 4 pins and if one has been accidentaly pushed to a side when re-fitting I believe this can cause the type of problems you are having.

Re: Changed Air Filter...05 GL1800 won't start..turn over

Really silly question but sometimes it does happen. Have you checked that you haven't knocked the Kill Switch on the right hand bar. I once spent 30mins trying to push start my bike as I felt it had a low battery (I was leaving work and no-one had a charger), thankfully they had left before I realiz...

Re: Changing rear brake pads on 202 GL1800A

That is the way to replace them. Simple. What you must do is remove the cap on the resevoir first (under the r/h cover) then using a screwdriver push the pads back away from the disc - this opens the pistons in order to put new pads in (if you don't you have difficulty trying to push the pistons bac...

Re: Flashers don't stay on???

Just sounds like a bit of dirt stopping it. Use a small tube (most seem to carry it on the can) to spray some lubricating oil into it, that should cure it. It happens to most of us at some stage as its one of the buttons rarely used. If it doesn't work then you may have to take it out but generally ...

If this happens again and you have replaced your oil a simple method is to pull the brake on and tie it up. Leaving it a couple of hours or overnight allows the air to move up to the reservoir.

Re: What Really Happened at Stonehenge.

I live only thirty miles from Stonehenge and when my sisters family visited from Chicago I took them to see it. It has been stood in the same place for over 5000 years and all my niece could say was 'Gee that's neat'.
Hate to think what she would have said if she had seen it as shown in the photo.
