Re: 97 GL1500 drive shaft line up

I took the drive shaft and rear drive off my 85 to fix a leak. And yes the u-joint does flop around, hers what I did. I pulled the rubber boot towards the front of the bike and put a shop towel around the u-joint to hold it up. I then slid the drive shaft and rear drive up inthe shaft tube. A little ...

Re: electrically dead at roadside

I found that you will need to take the false tank off. Get yourself a long extension for your ratchet and I believe a 10mm socket. If you look up between the front wheel and the radiator you will see the bottom of the ignition switch. There are two nuts on both sides of the switch. You will need to ...

Re: electrically dead at roadside

The 84s had a recall on the ignition switches as they would cause this same problem. My 84 aspy had the same problem it would just die as I was making a sharp turn. I had a parts bike and took the one off of it and put it one the 84 also put some moly 60 grease on the contacts it fixed it. You need ...

Re: Rear speakers

No The fader is a large round knob and can be located any where . Most I have seen are on the dash by the key switch on my 96 I installed the rear speakers and the fader I put the fader knob on the blank plate where the CB would go. I think if you do a search here you may find some pics of one.

Just off the top of my head I would say it my be your fader switch. It is where he audio comes from so you can move the sound from front to rear. It may be time to replace it,good luck------------------------Hal

Re: Where are good places to mount gremlin bells

The way it works is the lower the better as gremlins hide in potholes and jump up on your bike when you go by. The bell is there to ward them off before they can get up to your bike. I have mine on the right side lower crash bar.------------Hal

Re: Manual

You wont find the manual on this site Admin was forced to take them down. You will need the manual for the bike as the trike was added on later. You will need to find the manufacturer on the trike kit. you can find the manuals on e-bay sometimes for your bike or get a haynes manual.--------------Hal

Re: Engine turns off when I shake the handle bars?

I would say yes sounds just like others have happen to them. Do a search on here on how to bypass it,do the bypass and then try testing it by bouncing it side to side. If the bike does not cut out you found your problem. Also check your dogbone fuse to make sure it is not cracked. It may also be cau...

Re: On board air question

About the front air shocks the valves are located under the two black caps on top of your forks. Beware you can only put 4 to6 pounds of air in these front shocks any more and you will blow out the seals. If you are going to put air in them get a small hand pump that will show 0 to 6 pounds DO NOT u...

Re: On board air question

I have a 96 aspy and have the air hose that I got on line. But the only problem is it will take a long time to air up a very low tire. I would go to wallmart and pick up a slim pump it small and works a lot faster. I have a battery tender attached to my battery and the plug is in my right saddle bag...

The 84s had a recall on the ignition switch, my 84 did the same thing. I could be ridding slow and make a sharp turn and the motor would shut off. Try this start your bike and try turning your handle bars all the way left and right if it kills the bike it is the ignition switch.Look up under the fro...

Re: New to the world of Goldwings!!! Help!!!

Ill give number three and number four a stab, about the speedo if its like my 85 aspy it may be the speed sensor at the wheel. If you take a look at some other posts on it you will see how others have fixed it. I think it has to do with the plastic gears and a small magnet. On the lose connectors un...

Re: Brake system questions about my 86 Aspencade I bought a few hours ago.

Just my 2 cents Get the front brakes fixed and leave them just the way they were designed. If you did have both front brakes on the handle you would probably end up going over the handle bars the first time you laid in to them. Also youll lock up the front tire and end up in a skid.Same goes for the ...

If you look in the How-To-Articles there is one on how to make it quieter but also how to replace it with one from autozone. I also think if you do a search on this site you should find a couple of posts on how to do it and how it will look.-------------Hal
