Re: Front brake caliper-stripped keeper pin head

Happy update! As a last ditch effort I took the caliper into Valley Speed & Machine and Trvor there did a proper job of drilling out the old pin and re-tapping the threads. So didnt have to get a new one after all! $61.00 tax in. Yee-haw! BTW I suspect it wasnt me that buggered that pin in the first...

Re: Front brake caliper-stripped keeper pin head

Thanks FM. Just can't get onto it down in there with the vice grips. Well, I've tried everything but the heating suggestions from FM... worked on it for hours... sprayed the PB Blaster, drilled a bunch and even busted a drill bit, ruined a bolt remover and bent the s**t out of a slot screwdriver- has...

Re: Front brake caliper-stripped keeper pin head

Thanks guys, it's nice to hear I'm not the only one thzt b as had this problem. I had considered the possibility of having to drill so also nice to hear I may be able to do that with a successful result. Will update on the outcome. Hopefully that wont be a short sentence saying "Had to order a new f...

Re: Front brake caliper-stripped keeper pin head

BTW... I'm sure it helps to use the right tool in the first place. For anyone else following this, the keeper pins don't take an Allen wrench. I took a closer look at the one I did get out, and lo and behold I find out it's one of those star-shaped jobs- biggest one I have is a T-30 and it's a littl...

Re: Front brake caliper-stripped keeper pin head

Thanks WingAdmin. I'll be trying both... cheap at 10X the price given that a whole new caliper assembly is over $400... AND I'm in Canada so that's $1,000 bucks to me!... just kidding, but still north of $500. Where do you think would be the best place to find the screw removers? Tool supply outlet ...

Front brake caliper-stripped keeper pin head

So..... I'm changing my front brake pads. Going pretty well until I try to unscrew the second pad keeper pin on the left side. Its clearly very tight ( or seized), and I've managed to strip the Allen-type head of the pin. What fun. I had to apply a tremendous amount of torque on the first one, but i...

Re: after market mufflers

I really like my Hollywoods... but I have the baffles in. When I first installed it seemed as though they were creating an odd buzz in (??) my helmet, but that's gone away now. I think I might try to pull the baffles to see what it sounds like without but not sure how easy that will be...

Re: gl1500 sub air filter

Been planning to change the cruise filter. Haven't gotten to it yet but as I was reading this post something came to mind. My cruise works alright but seems sluggish when turning it on, setting the speed, increasing/decreasing speed. Could this be due to a dirty filter? Bad/leaky vacuum line? Or is ...

Re: OnlineLawnSales.com . Real or scam?

Yeah, saw that too, which raised a red flag.... And called the 800-number several times at different times of the day and never did get a live body. And sent them an e-mail a few days ago and have yet to get a reply.

Re: OnlineLawnSales.com . Real or scam?

Would, but can't. It was only listed on Kijiji for a couple days and then gone. I think it's kinda weird but according to OLS the seller can only post their ad for a limited time. Having said that, there are those that would say if it was a scam they would leave it up to hook as many suckers as poss...

Re: OnlineLawnSales.com . Real or scam?

Well, the deal is almost too good to be true so it probably is .... If we were only talking about $50 or $100 I'd risk it, but we're talking about $5k. Just can't take a chance on that much scratch.

Re: OnlineLawnSales.com . Real or scam?

Steve B, This is one of the things that is making me nervous. They claim to have a warehouse in Edmonton... 137 Ave. N.W. (no lot number) and a postal code. I punched the postal code into google maps and the street view is just showing alot of regular residential housing on 137 Ave.... very odd for ...

OnlineLawnSales.com . Real or scam?

Found something on Kijiji that I'd like to purchase. The seller is using Online Lawn Sales (OLS) to manage the transaction. I trust the folks on this site so... Is this outfit on the up-and-up? Anyone out there know of them or used them? The whole thing seems a little hinkey to me, but I've read a f...

Re: Bank Angle Sensor

Don't really know that, but its my assumption. The new one doesn't rattle, and I'm told there's supposed to be a fluid inside that dampens the movement of a pendulum. Apparently, there was an inherent defect in the original part that allowed them to dry out.

Re: Bank Angle Sensor

Agreed. I don't know about the work-around but it really is only about 15 minutes to do. If you've got big beefy fingers it may be a little frustrating but otherwise not a big deal. I've done lots of things that were a great deal more difficult.

Re: Bank Angle Sensor

Here you go. I've had the new part for several months. It wasn't particularly expensive, but a little tough to source. There seemed to be some dispute/discrepency as to what the actual part number is so it took a little research, and then couldn't get one from Honda Canada... had to order out of the...

Bank Angle Sensor

Reading some of the posts here from folks that were having a similar problem I decided to change out the bank angle sensor. Had a little trouble finding it- its under the seat on the throttl...

Dealer recommendation

So... I've been having this problem of the engine quitting while driving that others have been talking about and I figger it's the bank angle sensor ('90 model year 1500) Went to my dealer here in BC (Canada for those of you south of the 49th) who of course had to order the part. They called Honda C...

Thanks, WingAdmin. Didn't seem right to me, but when I was looking at the schematics for the belts, it looked similar so that's why I asked. Good thing as it happens!

Advance Timing Trigger Wheel

I'm seriously thinking I should change out the timing belts on my 1990 1500. Bike runs great but has about 110k miles on it and I have no idea when (or if) they were changed last, and listening to you guys has scared the bejeezuz out of me. I have also seen the Advance Timing Trigger Wheel that they...
