Re: LCD SCREEN

Went to SHARP tech site and looked up the data sheet on these. Back lighting is CCFL not led which explains a lot. If you have one full tube that's out you'll see one area of the screen that is slightly more dim than the rest of the screen. On a miniature level it's like having a four florescent fi...

Re: LCD SCREEN

I've been reluctant to replace mine with the aftermarket option. Basically I find that all aftermarket parts have unexpected disappointments ... such as not being as brights. I've read other posts where others are complaining about the same thing.

Re: 2012 GL1800 - Question on tuning CB antenna

I bought a $15 SWR meter online and jumper cables to hook up Honda CB leads, but my question is how do I actually get to the CB leads? I removed the bottom trunk cover and I'm not sure what I'm looking at, although I think the stereo is on top and the CB sits in the very bottom? Do I need to dig in...

Start with the basics. Have the battery tested, and make sure the posts and cables are clean and tight.

In the back of an Owner's Manual, it will direct you to Helminc.com for all Honda publications such as Service Manuals, Owner's Manuals, and NAVI manual. Helm is Honda's official sight for such stuff. Fortunately, NAVI manuals are still available for 2007s. Below is the link. Some of the manuals are...

Re: Front caliper rubbing brake pads

You probably mean that the left front rotor rubs the left caliper ???

If so, when you do take it in for the recall, be sure to mention your complaint and not assume that they will discover and fix it. Depending on the shop, they may or may not remove the front wheel.

Re: Ticking noise on right side of engine

Thanks, but you were concerned about overfilling with oil. That has not happened. If you are screwing it in, now I'm concerned about it being full enough. Doing it the way you're describing, it could be a quart low. Is there anyway that it can be checked correctly so that the possibility of not hav...

Re: Ticking noise on right side of engine

Hi. I place the wing on its center stand. Unscrew the oil fill/measure plug, wipe it clean, screw it back in, then unscrew and then measure the oil level. Same as I did for the 2012 wing. OK ... so that takes us back to post #4. Be sure to follow the "oil checking instructions" in the Owner's Manua...

Any chance you can capture the noise on a video on a smartphone, upload it to YouTube and place the link here ???

On GL1800 noises can be very deceiving as to where they sound like they are coming from.

Re: Ticking noise on right side of engine

Greg. Thank you for the help. I will take a video tomorrow and try to post it to youtube and then share the link. I do not think it is oil since 2012 wing received the same 10w30 synthetic honda oil that this one has - I do not overfill it. Currently, my goldwing gas only 1900 miles on it. I'm not ...

Re: Things to check on used bike with low miles

Remove the fuel cap and verify that there is no rust in the filler neck. If so, your repair bill could be just shy of $4000. If it starts and runs, is their any noticeable snapping (like a plug wire) or knocking when it turns over or at anytime while running. That repair is in the $2,000-3,000 range...

Re: MFI light and lope/die at idle

From here it sounds like Battery's Plus was color blind, or had not taken the "online coarse" about red going to positive and black going to negative, and that your battery was hooked up wrong. As for Honda replacing the knock sensor wire, that's a shielded wire and hopefully they replaced it with a...

Re: 2005 GL 1800 rear brake pad replacement.

If using rear OEM pads, which are often thicker then aftermarket ones, you will need to push the pucks in. Of coarse removing the wheel to unbolt the caliper and then use a puck pushing tool is probably best, rarely will anyone go through that trouble. As others have stated, you will have to use som...

Re: Ticking noise on right side of engine

A video of the noise is helpful. You can post it on YouTube and post the link here. More GL1800 owners have me listen to their noises that probably anyone else in the world. So, if you're able to capture the noise correctly, I'll be able to tell you what it is. If your noise is what I think it could...

Got home from work and tried to start the Wing. It cranked and started, but slowly and not very well. So off to get and replace the batt in the morning.
I would have said to make sure the connections are clean and tight and then have the battery tested.

Greg, he said 17,000 plus 8,000. 25,000 miles is NOT a lot of miles.
Oh ... sorry, you are right. Most likely his hoses will be still very playable and will not likely need replaced. His hose will look similar to the new hose shown in the picture when under pressure.

Re: GL 1800 Hoses

Yes ... that is a lot of mileage on hoses. You might want to start thinking about replacing them. Usually the first one to show problems is the one pictured below. Under pressure it becomes fat and swollen. Unfortunately, replacing all the hoses is not an easy task. The ones under the intake manifol...
