Re: What is this?

Yup.My 88 is the same.I added a 2' hose to it and ran it under the seat to stop condensation from getting into the carb.It is the carb bowl vent.Ca.models may have a charcoal canister added there.

Re: O/D light,Switch Location

With the obnoxious ammout of torque in the 1500 I only need 3 gears...
1st....to get it moving..
3rd...to wind it up..
5th...to blow past all the others. :P

Re: cruise and gear indicator

Yes it has to be in 4-5th to set. The plug for the switch is up front..around the radiator area. Each wire goes to ground as you select the gears. Your cruise may also not set if one of the 3 switches is not working. One on each brake lever and one on the clutch(the most common problem). I'd suggest ...

Re: Ltd- Oil Temperature Sensor

I'm thinking that it's a oil pressure sending unit.
Not positive but if you look on the right side of the engine block...on the top..above the brake lever area ..you may find a round fitting screwed into the block. It may be about 2 inches tall with a wire off the top of it.

Re: Resurrecting Grandpa's Wing

Good looking bike.
Whatever you do...Please don't try to start it.After setting that long, there's a procedure to restore it and cranking it right up isn't the first thing.Very bad things can happen.
Grandpa was right...baby it.

Re: How many accessory switches do you need?

I've seen them. There not what I have in mind. When winding down a dark road I don't want to take my hand off the grip to flip a switch on and off. I'm finishing up my universal design. (I just broke my 3d printer..waiting for parts this week.) It will suit my mind's eye for function. As soon as I get...

Re: GL1500 won't start till starter button is released

Hot ground cable. Possible problems. Starter locked up drawing a huge amount of power. Engine seized locking the starter. Corroded ground cable at the battery terminal. First step...Remove both battery cables..ground first and then last on. Inspect for corrosion and really clean them and secure back...

With a test light attached to the frame for a ground..Turn on the key and start following for the volts(or lack thereof) Start at the battery post...then to the 2 red wires on the solenoid(they feed the ignition switch and regulator. It's possible the solenoid you replaced is wired different than th...

Re: No electricity after 40 minutes

The single most common problem is the 30 amp dogbone fuse behind the trap door of the starter solenoid being hairline cracked. Unplug the 4 wire plug to gain access. Either replace it with the spare that's in the door or bypass it with a waterproof 30 amp fuse holder and blade types fuse. Not the min...

Re: Rear shock issues

I suppose you could replumb the shock to a Schrader valve but only use a hand operated pump.A shop compressor will quickly blow the seals out.

Re: GL1500 won't start till starter button is released

If your not sure about the battery, trickle charger it for a couple of days then take it and have it load tested. Flooded batteries seem to hold up for 4 years if kept filled up and on a good battery tender.I recommend the battery tender Jr. My 88 will crank but not start when the battery volts durin...

Re: New to this

Don't start on the carbs or tank yet. Pull all 4 spark plugs and see if the engine will turn over.Use a socket on the back and turn it by hand only. You want to verify that the engine is viable to run first. There's a check list of things to do in a particular order before attempting to start it up....

Re: New guy needs help!

I've run all 4 models so far. The 1000..just a beast. The 1100..really fast. The 1200..a bit too nimble/twitchy ya might say.. The 1500...plenty of go and probably the most comfortable.Like a lumbering giant. There all easy to ride but the 1500 has been the best for my riding pleasure. It just lumbe...

He's not talking about cornering lights. It's the position lights in the front turn signals. See what h...

Or...The bike was running fine and developed this problem by i...

Re: 1985 Fuel Injected Bike Wont Start

Is this the first time you've tried to start it and it's been not run for a loooooong time? Old fuel can plug up the system. I'd be tempted to flush out old gas and (by applying power to the pump unhooked from the harness) circulate new fuel when testing the fuel pressure. Both static and full pump p...

That's a good indication..The computer didn't see any faults in the electrics. That leaves fuel.
There is a test port for fuel pressure.

Re: How many accessory switches do you need?

This is great.Im finalizing my plans.
A universal mount.
My options for my 1500.
Finger button to flash the high beam.I don't use a modulator.
Thumb switch to operate driving lights.
I will review what I'm gonna use.
Or any other combinations one desires with up to 2 double Rocker center off switches.

Re: Riddle me this!

Sounds like it's running a bit lean.
The 'choke" is actually a fuel enricher valve.Open it a bit adds a bit more fuel to the engine.
Same answer tho.Vacuum lines and/or partially plugged jets.
Perhaps a few doses of snake oil may help clear it up.
