Re: High speed running problem

Probably the easiest test is to leave the lid open.Run it till it starts to dog off. While struggling with it,reach into the lid and crack open the gas cap.Should it be plugged,a vacuum can develope in the tank making it hard to keep up with the fuel demand. A second problem area is with the vacuum f...

Re: Relay wiring

I did use a ring connector direct from the battery post to my relay.Fused close to the battery.I also used a #12 wire.I didn't want to tax any circuit on the OEM wiring with a extra load.

Re: Move over proprietary computer systems, Linux now owns the show

Sorry for your lost.I do understand. The hard drive probably threw a rod or the platters stuck. There cheap to replace if needed.Running live works great but you can't save anything you change. I found a Dell laptop at the thrift store($6.98) I just added Linux mint 32 bit latest version. Easier to s...

Re: Move over proprietary computer systems, Linux now owns the show

I've had Linux for many years.. I hate windows...always have...stupid file system control. I just got another Dell supercomputer to replace my flood damaged one....Wiped Windows 10 and the stickers off it and put in 64 bit Linux mint18. It's even hooked to a 42" flatscreen... Not only does it obey m...

Re: Bike starts only if in neutral?

Yes.The first switch is quick on the lever on mine and the start in gear clicks at full lever pull.I have heard that if a spacer is attached on the lever where it makes contact with the switch may overcome this problem. Also check your pivot bushing for excessive wear.

Re: Bike starts only if in neutral?

If you listen very close you can hear the switch click when the lever is pulled back.Try squeezing it a bit more.

Re: Bike starts only if in neutral?

There is a switch at the clutch lever for "in gear cranking" and yes,the stuff you wrapped around the lever changed where it operates the switch.

Re: No Spark at plugs when turning over, no click on solenoid

Ok.Both at the starter solenoid and push to start switch the wire is "yellow/red".
It should have volts when the key is on and the button pushed.the common 12 volts that feeds the switch is "black".
Jump those two and it should crank.

Re: No Spark at plugs when turning over, no click on solenoid

I'll look at the schematic for color codes but yes,the start button (as far as I recall) has 3 wires going to it.A hot wire that feeds through the switch to the lights and when pushed it feeds to the starter solenoid.
Gimme a few minutes to get the info.

Re: No Spark at plugs when turning over, no click on solenoid

Isolate the problem by using a test light or volt meter.Battery ground.Probe each of the 2 small wires on the solenoid that make it click.Ome at a time. When pushing the start button one should show 12 volts and the other zero volts. If there's no volts, suspect the start button. If there's volts on b...

At least on one of the wings, the code is displayed on the module.Yoirs should be on a indicator lamp but I don't know yet how to make it display the codes if any.
Just got a manual downloaded. Will read more tonight.

Re: 2000 vulcan 1500

This bike doesn't use an accelerator pump. Its fuel injected.Fuel flow doesn't sound like a problem..a twist of the throttle brings it back up to speed. The description is while trying to cruise at a steady speed the bike starts to slow down by itself. I'm suspecting either a problem with the throttl...

Re: Dies in gear

Well there's two possibilities. One is the clutch stuck...The other is the side stand still down or the switch not working(not just the light..it's a 2 part switch). The bike is designed with a kick stand safety switch. If the ignition module thinks the side stand is down and you try to stuff it in g...
