Re: OMG Make it Stop!

Now I have to go examine some of the other accounts created around then as well - they often create a number of accounts and leave some of them idle as "sleeper cells" - then in a week, month, two months from now, they'll log on and start up again with one of those. I just usually catch them within...

Re: centerstand

Just for the experience of successfully getting the bike on the center stand, why don't you put the rear wheel on a piece of 3/4 inch plywood. If that is not enough, then move up to a 2 inch board, which is 1 1/2 inches thick. Do this a few times till you find out what you are doing right. Just a su...

Re: gl1800 swingarm bearing replacement

I put progressive springs in my forks, as I was told I would gain an inch in height if I put Traxxion in. I could not compensate for even an extra inch, so, Progressive Dynamics it was. I have been totally happy. The springs were something like $90.

Re: Wingstuff Half Cover Review

I have WingStuff's full cover for the GL1800. I have had it since early 2011 and it is still going strong. some of the thread is coming out at one edge, so I had better get that stitched back in, but this has been not only the least expensive cover I have ever found, but also the best. Like Wing Adm...

Re: 2002 GL1800 trailer hitch. Which one ....

My Cargo trailer is similar to the ones you are looking at. I have a hitch that is made the same as the Kuryakyn hitches, and six point bolt on. The bike does not even know the trailer is there, and there is plenty of arc for the hitch and ball to work together. I have run the tail of the dragon wit...

If the Lucas bottle does not have a label statement saying it has no friction modifiers, or that it is JASO MA/MA2 certified, I would not use it.

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like backrests

I tried a couple of add on backrests, and one, I did not like = the other, the passenger did not like. Upgraded to a custom seat and had them add the backrest and I love that one. It is easily removeable if I want it off, but I never take it off. I ride most of the time with my back just barely touc...

Re: Best Oil

I have been using full synthetic oils since 1976. I do not know why anyone would say to use semi rather than full synthetic, unless it would be to get "some" of the wear benefits of synthetic, but just not "ALL" of the benefits. Also, if one is going to change with the manufacturers recommended chan...

Above 50 MPH I put the bike in OD. Below 50 MPH, drop to 4th and lower depending on how far below 50 MPH. The single most important thing to me is that I do not lug the engine.

Re: Drivers backrest removal

Does it not just pull straight upwards to remove it? May take a little bit of a tug. If that does not work, you may have to remove the seat to get at the bottom of the seat pan.

I used to buy more expensive rain gear, but found that Frogg Toggs give better protection from the rain at far less cost. If I do happen to rough them up, they are easily and more cheaply replaced. When I bought them, they were about $80 for the set in a bag. Pants and hooded jacket. I bought two se...

Sorry, no. Honda made the site owner remove all service manuals. About the only chance at one would be from Helm Inc., if they have one out yet. Otherwise, your Honda dealership may be able to get you one.

Re: Changed the oil now hard shifts

As was mentioned above, read the bottle. JASO MA/MA2 on the label is the key. If this is present, the oil is suitable for use where there is a wet clutch. Other than that, 10W30 and 10W40 are both suggested by the manufacturer, depending on the ambient temperatures in the area where you operate the ...

Re: Drain Oil from Gl1500 from Oil Filter only?

If you are willing to protect it, this might solve your problems. I use one on my diesel truck. It does stick out a bit, but a shield like a belly pan would take care of keeping it from being knocked out. https://www.amazon.ca/Fumoto-F-108-Engine-Drain-Valve/dp/B003VCCUJI?th=1&psc=1&source=googlesho...

I don't have any extra switches or buttons. This bike already has way more than is sensible. There are at least two on my audio control panel that I have never even touched. Then the ones on the right side for headlight elevation. I also do not use them. I also do not ride at night, so no need for t...

Re: Need info: Dometic RV Roof Top A/C

RV units are similar to home Air Conditioners, only smaller and less efficient. The label you provided does not list the BTU Capacity, but I would not be surprised if a Dometic unit at 8 amps could only pull the air down 10 degrees. The 13,500 units on Airstreams which run at 15 amps can only pull i...

I am far from being the electronics expert on this forum but you may also need a five wire to four wire adapter if your trailer is four wire.
