My buddy and I made up a couple years ago using old glass mercury switches from home 24v. furnace thermostats if You can still find one. They did not look pretty but worked good.

Re: 1986 GL1200A Timing

All these engines are interference in design, The valves will hit the piston crowns if timing is off over I believe 90 degrees. Do not the rotate engine crankshaft or camshaft with the belt removed or off the timing marks. Serious engine damage will occur. There is a plug located on the top of rear ...

Re: So many problems.... so little time

Almost all Your questions are already answered here if You search the forum. The temp. seems to be within limits The system is designed to operate at 180F. The seals failing premature are probally due to worn upper and lower bushings or Bent, bad surface on fork tube. Good luck with all.

I personally have never worked on a F.I. Goldwing but according to the manual there is a five LED diagnostic light panel beneath Your trunk assy. that emits trouble codes if present.

I had a weird problem years ago, I can not even remember which bike it was after owning so many Honda,s But I could not bleed the brake unless the master cylinder cover was left off unsealed or loose. Don,t ask Me why I simply do not know. You might want to try it. Good luck

I know this is a no brainer for You guys, I disassembled the frt. forks on My 85 1200a and cleaned every thing up about three weeks ago, Got sick and can not remember if the close windings on lower spring ( long spring )go into the tube first or it faces upward. Re: 1984 GL1200 shifting problem

I,ve owned alot of Honda,s And they were all a little finicky at times searching for neutral, But the problem Your describing sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaged. You will notice it more at a standstill due to the trans input shaft is not spinning. When taking off from a stand still the c...

Re: 1987 GL1200A Cooling fan question.

I,ve owned two Gl,s first a 95 1500a and 85 GL 1200a The 1500 seemed to activate the fans faster on idle than the 1200, Seems the 1200 runs cooler, I would say twice as long for the 1200 to come on versus the 1500, But to on the safe side leave it run a little longer to see if it comes on, If not ch...

Use Your manual to determine the total load in watts for nomal riding, And look at the alternator output. I really think the stock alternator will not support 10 amps X 2 = 20 amp.s or I believe 240 watts if my memory serves Me correctly. I might be wrong.

Re: chattering

Sounds like Your U-joint again, It takes a little more torque to get a trike in motion versus a stock two wheeler, I changed a rr. seal on My previous 95GL and the shaft was spring loaded and there was no play laterally between the trans and differential,Due to the constant motion of the swingarm. I,m not familiar with the switch over from one to other, Do You have clearance to put spacers and longer mount bolts under the pump mount to raise it? If so it might take some heat away from it. Just a thought.
