Kuryakyn diamond red lens

I have fitted to my 1988 GL1500/6 the Kuryakyn upper and lower light bars with the diamond lights. These bars have been fitted to the bike for the last 20 years and I have noticed of late that the red diamond lens are starting to crack and fade. Would anyone have a some old but good condition or eve...

Re: Need help ASAP

As it was in gear when it was pushed backwards, it is possible that a gear has been stripped. I agree with cbx4evr and would not be starting it until the gear box and starter motor has been checked. You may have to check the bike from front to rear meaning the engine etc, and the rear drive to the s...

Foot brake adjustment

I have noticed that the foot brake lever on my Wing has a bit more travel in it that what I want. Apparently there is an adjustment somewhere between the brake lever and the cylinder that holds the hydraulic brake fluid. I have searched for this adjustment but have not been able to locate it. Iv'e l...

Re: Info on polishing out fine scratches in windshield?

Try some brasso and this will cut out the scratch. Take off the screen, take it into the lounge or TV room and while watching TV just work away slowly and it will get done. What ever you don't spill the brasso on the floor , etc., or life won't be worth living. When all done get the wife's best and ...

Yes, even I have left the drain plug off and wondered why the sump was taking so much oil. Luckily I had a pan underneath the sump collecting the oil. And yes you do feel a fool, especially when someone makes the comment "Have you put the drain plug back in".   And like WingAdmin sai...

I got a Motobatt and from what I have found on the internet they are made in China. They are a bit expensive here in NZ but so are the other makes. Anyway all fitted and the bike is go. I also obtained from Australia three discs to fit the 1988 1500 at a total cost of $NZ350.00 which included freigh...

Compu Fire Battery

Good morning everyone.

I had to replace my compufire battery (can't get them in NZ) as it died. How long are they supposed to last as mine did just under the 5 years, which is about the same length of time as the normal battery. :(

Re: Bike Identification

Hi, at a rough stab you have a GL1500 Aspencade. What the 2T or T stands for I am not sure.

It could be just an upgraded model of the 1500A.

I had the exact same ticking sound in the rear with my "88 that would get faster and slower as i'd change speed , and it would get even worse if my wife was with me ( more weight on the bike ) . My problem was the rear bearing in the drive train !!! Good luck Lebouc . You are a brave man saying tha...

Re: Hard starting gl1500 problem confirmed

If the bike is left for too long before starting I have this method. Ignition on, choke on, hit start button and let the engine crank over a few times, then turn everything off. Leave the bike for a few minutes and do the same thing again. On the third try it should start up as you have now re-prime...

Don't forget the currency conversion as the NZ$ is not worth as much as the US$, and there was air freight as well. That included the battery and alternator as a unit.

I'm a first owner of my wing and currently I just rolled over 196,000 mile with normal maintainance. Normal oil changes..sparkpulgs, fluids. Re: High Milage

Your bike is just getting run in, however I would suggest that you look at changing the timing belt as they may be due about now. We have a guy in the New Zealand GoldWing Riders who's 1500 has done over 600,000 miles and still runs like a dream, well a Wing then. His bike is serviced on a regular b...

I obtained a set of discs (two front and one rear) from Australia. What it cost me for the three and freight I would not have been able to buy two here in New Zealand, and they will be here within a week. Where as I would have been waiting for at least 2 months had I ordered them here.(NZ). I will l...

Discs for front brake G/W 1988 1500/6

Re: Hand brake not operating brake lights

I found one in Oz, for about AU$18 (exchange rate is currently AU$1.00=NZ$1.25 - at the million dollar rate), so next time perhaps you could try Oz and save on the shipping/postage. Let me know if I can be of assistance. Thanks Redial, I just hope I don't need another one. This one lasted 25 years,...

[quote="WingAdmin"]$10, and in stock to ship today: Front Brake Light Switch

Hi WingAdmin, thanks for the offer. But I have already ordered one from Niehaus Cycle. The basic cost is not the problem, it's getting it to NZ that makes it more expensive.

But thanks anyway.

Re: Hand brake not operating brake lights

Kiwi2, you should be able to split the micro switch and clean the posts. Assuming the switch is similar to that on my 1200, it's really easy to do. Good morning kwild, I had a look at my switch and it is a little different to your's, not by much though. Mine has four pins whereas yours has two. I w...

Re: Hand brake not operating brake lights

Hi guys, I found that the micro switch is at fault so I have to get a new one.

Any ideas where I can pick one up in the states.

1) They will be a lot cheaper.
2) I won't have to wait months.
3) The dealers here in NZ charge like a wounded bull.
