Re: 1983 GL 1100I, Painting Honda nameplates

I painted mine with a very very small paint brush and a toothpick.

Ride your rear tire up onto a 2 x 6. A lot easier to put the bike on the center stand.

Check the top of page under manuals.

Re: Honda wiring colour code

Well the rabbit hole disappeared.
The chart is no longer reachable from the link.

I was able to click on code: select all.

It printed out in small type but it was printed.
Thanks for the time it took you to put it on the site.

GL1100 fuse box

Has any one used a GL1200 fuse box to replace the GL1100?
I want to replace the 1100 and thought maybe the 1200 wires would be similar in color to the 1100.

Any suggestions?

Re: Neutral indecator light

I am assuming you are talking about an 1100. I had that problem long time ago. There is a diode wrapped in the wiring harness at the mid thigh left side. It is not easy to find. I know I had to replace that diode in the past. I'm not certain when it was the neutral coming on w/ clutch or another pro...

Re: How do I access the wiring at the front of the bike?

Take the false tank off. There are 2 screws on each side in the front. Take them out and throw them away. 2 bolts at the rear of the tank where the seat sits. Lift the false tank off.

Re: Running Light Speedo/Tach not working

When you put the false tank back on, you may have pulled the wires from those instruments.
Follow the wires down to the connections. Just my 2 cents.

Taking the back lights out at the connection( under the seat) should not have affected the front gauges.

Re: Crush washer sizes

I replaced my water pump a couple of months ago on 83 1100.
I do not recall any crush washers being used.
Look at the schematics and see if there are really crush washers.

Re: How to wire LED lights

here is the one review on it. Rolling Eyes leds the hot and ground wires on the re controller are at least 14 ga way too large for the tiny connection points on this fuse block. 18ga is about the largest it will take. connections are not very secure. screw heads are micro, slotted and straight. 0 ou...

Give me a pic or a part number. I may have one as I parted out a bike that had an air compressor on it.

redbug is correct.
It goes on the seat. I took mine off several years ago. The seat is held in place by my seat.
In all my riding I have never lost a seat.

Re: My leather pocket cover

The Amish guy who made them ordered the snaps. I have no idea where he got them from. I had to order enough covers for him to use the entire box of snaps.

I have 2 covers for sale. They are the ones with snaps on 3 sides.

Re: Fairing crack repair

Totally agree with the above post. If you can not find the black abs glue you can make your own. Place some shavings of abs material (black pipe, abs sheets, an old bike plastic part) along with acetone. Make a slurry solution in a glass jar. I use drywall self sticking tape with the square holes. G...

Review the plate on the frame, down by the kickstand.
That plate will give you the specifics for your tires on the bike.
