Re: GL1800 Legs up wheels

I bought a set from a mate who needed some cash to help him go to trike. He fitted the Legs up after a stroke but they were not enuff to allow him to keep biking so he went trike conversion. Now that was expensive here in Aussie. Well I had another mate fit the legs up on my 2009 GL1800 and would I ...

Hi Way pegs

Can any one give some advice on Hi Way pegs for the long trips with the GL 1800. It looks like the knees will have to be pretty well spread around the radiators to get the feet onto them and then is it comfortable? I stand about the 5'11" mark so would the 4 1/2 " be the suitable, rather than the 6"...

Hi, yep, good looking little camper. Few details, wheel size, internal measurements, weight empty and legal load would be interesting. Is it sprung or unsprung.

Re: CB install on 2009 GL1800

Sorry mate, what I meant to say was that I already have the Legs-Up computer stashed away under the CD player but there might still be room as if you say it isn't very big. Thank you for the input.

I have been looking for articles on install CB on the 2009 model and as yet haven't been successful. Any advice please. I dont know where the radio itself will go, as I have the CB and the Legs Up already in the trunk. Will find a place somewhere I guess.

Re: Legs Down by LandinGear

Well finally got my mate to come up from Brisbane and after a couple of days the Legs were installed, without the speed sensor. It is OK for the purpose I want it for, just rolling into the shed, or at the fuel-up or the shopping centre. It sometimes takes a bit of messing about to get it all lit up...

Re: regular or hightest??

My manual for the Australian Market 2009 Gl1800 just plainly states "avoid ethanol" and other spirit additives. Cant be more plainer than that. Anyway ethanol, although available in a lot of outlets is not, I feel, well accepted in this country. But we wont go there will we. Thanks for the advice, as...

Re: Goldwing vs. Harley...

Nothing against any bike, everyone has a choice and leave it there. Australia is a big place, as big as mainland USA and there are huge distances. The Harley dealers are basically in the major cities and some of the larger provincial towns. There is a Honda dealer, of sorts, whether it is a car agen...

I think the install instructions are on the net and there may be something about adjustments in them. I will look later and see what I have and let you know.

Matter of try and see I guess. I like the look of them on your machine. Let me know which way you go with any alterations although the previous owner probably went through all of this too. Thanks again.

Thanks for the information first hand twostroke. It is pretty well what I thought, use only when stopped, and raise prior to take off. I still have not installed mine due to too many reasons to list. Hopefully later this month or early October. I have to travel about 1100 kms to get it done.Do you t...

Re: CB radio question

The reply I got from the bike GL2 people in the U.S. very briefly stated that they "are working on a UHF designed for the Australian market". This seems to confirm all the information listed above. I have not seen any other CB here other than the UHF. The local products here are very good, 10 miles ...

Re: CB radio question

That is great information and I apprciate it. I have emailed them (hope it goes there) to confirm Australian frequency available. Is the antenna ready to go or does it have to be measured or some other way adjusted? Do you recommend any particular type, like a splitter or such. Install seems quite s...

Thanks, have got the message. Those connections, easy to find? Next time I go to Town will have a look at the Honda people and see what they have. Re: CB radio question

Must it be a Honda CB? I have CB in all three road vehicles and find they are a relative cheap item here. $150-$200 gets the best then about $70 for antenae.Fitting would be the expence with removal of whatever on the bike. I have different units in each vehicle and whether in the truck, ute or the ...

Re: Coolant for a 2009 GL1800

The mainviking is so correct. Everything I have learned about coolants, particularly with my diesel trucks and tractors, points to DO NOT MIX coolants ever, unless there has been a thorough flush. What is good for the donkey is good for the mule as they say so I would, and will be sticking to the Ho...

Re: CB radio question

What is FRS radio and does the Goldwing come with CB installed in the US. You use different frequency to us in Australia. It might be an expensive operation having one installed here, I have yet to investigate it. Should have one I suppose as the truckies are very helpful here with advice on locatio...

Re: Power Outlet 2001 1800 GL

Probably a bit late now. My 2009 has a lead in the 'glove box' with a male plug. It is just one of those single plugs with a couple of rubber rings that plug into most things except phones, which to me is not a problem. I was looking for an outlet to run a fluro light to the camper, just in case of a...
