I've been using beads for years and love the smoothness and tire wear. 2oz in the front and 3 oz in the rear.

Re: Dunlop Elite 4's

I think Dunlop recommends 38 psi front and 41 psi rear. I usually run 41 both but may run what Dunlop recommends.

Re: Dunlop Elite 4's

I just installed E4 for the first time this weekend with 2oz front and 3 oz beads rear. Bike had Michelin Commander 2 on it when I bought the bike in January. It had cupping in the front and major feathering in the rear. Couldn't get rid of it. And the singing was almost intolerable. I used only E3 ...

If the recalls have not been done and maintenance is not well documented that is not a deal breaker, it could be used as a negotiating device.

Re: Flasher Issue

I would say that the switch is dirty. It's a very common thing. Clean it out with spray electrical cleaner inside and out. There is a how to in the how to section under cleaning switches.

Re: 2001 GL1800 Bluetooth

If you want to listen to music from your phone through the bikes stereo just plug it into the aux on the bike and go through that. If you want to listen to music on your phone into your helmet via Bluetooth you can get a Bluetooth headset like sena or cardo scala.

Re: Identifying an ABS model

You can tell by looking at the front wheel on the right side near the center hub is a gear looking ring. That is the abs sensor pickup. The rear has the same ring on the same side only bigger. There is also the letters ABS on the brake chrome cover on the front.

Re: Cooling system

All good to know. On my 1500, when I wash the bike with water, either after riding in the rain or at the end of the season or a couple of times a year. I really drown my radiators with water and try and get all the gunk out that I can with the yard garden hose and never the car wash.

Re: Why did he crash ?

I also believed that most all accidents can be avoided in one way or the other and its not one single thing that may have caused the accident but several circumstance leading up to it. I hit a deer about 12 years ago going down out local road at 55 mph. I saw the deer from a distance and thought tha...

Re: Electrics - Starter Motor

Seeing as i stated this posting, guess it would be appropriate for me to close it! I had worried about the starter motor, and a friendly mech had a quick look at it and told me "nothing wrong with it!" However, further investigation by a qual.GW Mech reported - "Starter motor - brushes well worn!" ...

Some change every time tires are changed and some never. I've changed mine 3 times in 7 years but that was to change to a different valve stem style. If you still have the rubber ones definitely change to the metal ones or the low profile aluminium ones.

On the 83 1100 I had I changed pulley tensioners around the 120k miles and last year I changed the pulley tensioners on my 2000 gl1500se at the 158k mile area. Both of them where done because of preventive maintenance.
