Re: Intercom Issues 2013

Start by switching the helmets around and see if the problem is still with the same helmet or if the problem moved to the other helmet. This will help with where to look further.

Re: 1800 wet clutch

Well, my thought is if there's no detectable feel of the bike wanting to move forward, then the clutch isn't dragging. There should be sufficient oil between the clutch plates for a few minutes, I would think.....

Re: FRONT LIGHTS FOR GL

I do know of one that I would stay AWAY from, and that would be the SILVERSTAR's. They are definitely brighter than the ordinary halogen, but that's because they overdrive them with a smaller filament that won't last as a result.

Re: Traded up

Congrats on the new-to-you bike! As was mentioned earlier, everything is about the same as any other bike......except the throttle! It seems it's WAAAAAAY more sensitive that my old CB750F! LOL.
Enjoy the ride and the buttons thing will pass.

Re: service rear differential

First you're talking about servicing the "final drive" (No differential) and then you're talking about the clutch. What's up with the clutch? The final drive usually only requires draining out the old and in with the new. And synthetic hypoid gear oil should be fine, but unnecessary. A word of advic...

Re: Battery goes dead after a couple of days

OK, here's a test you can do to single out any parasitic current draw. It requires a decent quality Digital Multimeter and a bit of patience. In the end it could save you a bunch-o-bucks. This video is based on checking a car, but the process is the same for the bike, except you don't have to worry ...

Would you happen to have a "BIKEMP3" player in the system? There have been problems with them draining batteries.

Re: Starter Button Weak Spring?

I've said it before, but WD-40 MAY be used in switches as it is an excellent solvent and crud remover......HOWEVER, follow the WD treatment with a quick couple of shots of a good contact cleaner to remove the WD residue. I've found that WD flushes out crud way faster than most contact cleaner spray...

Re: cruise control

Problem could be in the switches in the brake levers and the clutch and maybe the throttle cables setting. If there's a break in any of these circuits, the cruise can be problematic. I'd start with the switch in the foot pedal and go from there. That switch sees a lot of dirt and moisture and can fl...

Re: 2003 gold wing radio lost menory

First try the reset mentioned above with the battery disconnected. Actually taking the battery out and to a shop for load testing will do both at once. If that does not work you might also go the the wingconnect.com website and check with Larry. He is a guru at fixing and improving these radios. Ye...

Re: Tick behind dash

Your headlight adjuster is malfunctioning. The motor is bottoming out and the straining sound and click is from the gears and such. Contact you dealer on disconnecting the motor until it can be repaired.

No difference that I could see performance wise, but they MAY last longer. Whether you break even on the cost vs. the money saved using the normal plug is something to be seen.

Re: Sixity brake pads

The rotors were being eaten alive by those pads...maybe because the rotors are stainless and the pads gall them excessively??? I'm not sure but the rotors suffered, and there was actual metal dust on the wheel, not the typical brake dust you find with "normal pads".

Re: 2005 GL1800 blowing fuses and won't start

Unfortunately, replacing fuses won't fix it, and the first thing that comes to mind is damaged wires from mice. It'll take some time to track the problem. Some insurances will cover this kind of damage.

Re: noise in intercom

One test to try is to have the bike "on" but not running, intercom on and the radio off and then knock on the top of the radio. Can you hear the knocking in your headset? Don't laugh, it's a common phenomenon called (I believe) "microphonics", whereas the vibrations are somehow amplified electronica...
