Re: All Balls Or OEM Fork seal kit

I've heard stories either way, but when I had the forks rebuilt, I went with OEM seals and sliders too.

Personally, I have not, but doing some checking on the internet, it seems the typical norm is 190, 200-210.

Not on the '03. That feature came later on, maybe '06 or so? You only have a choice of the greeting or not.

Re: UK Satnav coming to USA

If you want to mount it to the windscreen there is a ram mount ball that has 3m tape instead of the suction cup. Works very well. The mount will break before the tape will let loose. Be careful mounting stuff to the windscreen with tape or glue. I had a simple decal on the stock Honda windscreen an...

Re: UK Satnav coming to USA

Just my opinion, and you can take it with a grain of salt, but I think you would be better off getting yourself a GARMIN Nuvi or something like that and a suction cup mount to the windscreen. Keep your UK navi the same and use the GARMIN for the US routes. Of course, you'll have to purchase it here ...

Re: 05 gl1800 clutch replacement

A clutch failing on a GL1800 is practically unheard of. A rough running engine, with the clutch pulled in can make a lot of noise as the clutch plates are bouncing back and forth in the basket due to a rough running engine. My old CB750F would make noise until I synched the carbs and smoothed out th...

Get back to the basics, and check the fuse in your isolator box, ands all it's connections. Establish that you have power there, and then proceed.

Re: 2003 1800 full face helmet headset

My recommendation: EDSETS! In my opinion, way better than anything else out there. You get what you pay for, and EDSETS are worth every penny. Be sure you opt for the THUNDERCLAP speakers.

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

Getting to the water pump and the hose clamps isn't a BAAAAD job, just takes a bit of time. It means pulling the seat and removing the fuel tank. You have to pull the hose connections and unplug the connector on the top of the tank to get it out, a rather empty tank is helpful! Pretty straight forwa...

Re: Honda and the wobble

Having the forks rebuilt involves the seals and dust caps replaced, forks disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and flushed. Then there are the slider bushings that MUST be replaced since they're TEFLON coated and the coating wears off over time. If that happens and they aren't replaced in time, you s...

Re: Front break lever and lights

Don't waste your time cleaning the switch, it won't last or even make a difference. They're relatively cheap at HONDA, believe it or not. And while you're in there, replace the other switch that's for the cruise control system. Before you disconnect it, take a few photos first so you get the wires b...

Re: Honda and the wobble

Well, if it ever shows up again, have your mechanic (or yourself if you have the tool) check the torque on the steering head bearing. I had ALL-BALLS tapered head bearings in my '03 and never had any kind of shimmy or wobble. I just had the forks rebuild last February and had new tapered bearings in...

Re: Hard Shift 1st to 2nd

I've tried different shifting techniques in the past, and I have found that a quick shift is always necessary. In other words, you must shift the instant you quickly pull in the clutch lever. Don't lag or be slow about it and you'll be amazed at how easy and quiet it shifts.

Have you checked if the tire is mounted in the right direction? Also make sure the arrow on the wheel matches the arrow on the tire. I've heard of things getting installed backwards and it still worked.

Problem solved . I had the bike warming up so I could start jiggling the wiring harness, While I was standing by the bike I set my hand on the throttle grip kind of hard and the bike died. I started the bike again and this time i bumped the throttle grip again a little harder bike died again......I...

Re: How cold will ya'll ride?

I won't ride if it's freezing or below, but I'll ride to work occasionally if it's 40 or above since it's only a 30 minute ride. Anything below 50 and any long-ish rides are out.
I ride for the pleasure of riding, and if I'm not enjoying it, what's the purpose?

Re: Coolant smell long after coolant change

Well, it really does take a while for the smell to go away. Even a small bit of the stuff sitting in a small puddle somewhere won't just evaporate, and it just sits there. I was occasionally getting a slight, really faint wiff of coolant, and it turned out to be loose coolant hose clamps. The only f...

I had the Tulsa Tall, the stock shield (that I hated because of the buffeting), and lately, I think I have a winner! Before I go on about the new shield, I want to say that the Tulsa shield, while really tall, was also HOT to ride behind. Wind was blocked too well, and the passenger never really ben...

Re: rear speaker

I would seriously suspect a ground problem. When they did the trike kit, they must have interupted a ground, and when you put it in reverse, the ground is re-established. Only thing that makes sense to me. I would add a ground to the rear speakers, temporarily, to ensure that is the problem, and if...

Start by switching the helmets around and see if the problem is still with the same helmet or if the problem moved to the other helmet. This will help with where to look further.
