Re: Howe Kutter GoldWing-GL1000 fairing

They haven't been in business for MANY years. When the factories started putting fairings on bikes, the demand for third party fairings ended.
I would think that Ebay and Craigslist would be the best place to look.

Re: Howe Kutter GoldWing-GL1000 fairing

Howe fairings were made in a factory on Airline Highway in Cedar Falls Iowa. At the time, I lived about 4 miles from there. I always found it interesting that they also made two wheeled racing sulkies.

Enter "carb sticks" in google. I had a set many years ago. Works great. Just DO NOT rev the engine and quickly close the throttle.

Re: Who Never Wears A Helmet

Spoke to a woman at a riding class that does not wear a helmet. She said a nurse told her they would break your neck in a crash. I didn't want to argue with her but that is justifying a behavior with a total disregard doe the truth. It's convenient so believed. The couple that I bought my wing from...

Re: Ethanol! Yes or No?

Sorry if this is a repeat, but remember... the reason ethanol is cheaper is because it is Government Subsidized. So every time someone tops off with E-anything, that is money out of YOUR (and my) pocket. I cringe when I see someone grab the yellow E85 pump nozzle. Ron RIGHT. And . . . what you "sav...

Re: Ethanol! Yes or No?

I have been using 87 octane with 10% ethanol for years in my 1500 and now my 1800 have never seen the difference in the way the bike operates using 91 octane VS 87 octane gas mileage the same and runs as strong in my mind .. Do use a stabilizer in the winter when the bike is stored.. .. Guess it is...

Pretty simple really. Should just be the rider's choice. Same with seat belts in my opinion. I always wear a helmet but it doesn't bother me if anyone else does or doesn't.
As long as my taxes don't pay for their medical and long term care bills.

Re: Take Off Your Helmet??

If I plan on putting any miles on I put the head saver on. Just feel better about it. Had a 79 cb750k bef...

I would like to thank those who do not wear a helmet.
I'm getting older, and one day I might need an organ transplant. Just remember to carry that donor card whenever you ride.

Re: Who Never Wears A Helmet

MANY years ago, in the bike shop where I bought my first bike, there was a sign by the helmets that said, "If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet."

I think most riders, unless they have a good head bunt (like, say, Gary Busey) can revise that quote to a ZERO value helmet.

I have a Lehman. GREAT on the hiway and in curves. Almost no lean. BUT . . . . the solid rear is a PITA in town. Any bump on a city street gets magnified.

Re: It is time to say goodbye.

Don't trust television or news reports of actual shootings by ambush of police officers, but trust the FBI and it's stats? That is really naïve at best and purely stupid at the worst end of that thinking. All Police agencies distort crime facts to suit their current agendas and that is a proven thi...

Re: The end of Ethanol-free fuel in the US

Well, Obama's corn-lobby buddy has to get his money from somewhere !! Who knows...maybe we'll see a stop to it under the new administration! Google the amount of money that REPUBLICAN Senator Charles Grassley and his family have taken in from farm subsidies over the years. You will also find that h...

Re: The end of Ethanol-free fuel in the US

No. Not familiar with Senator Grassley. Is he the one that will get rich ruining engines across the nation? Or is he going to try to stop the insanity? Chuck is an ultra-conservative from Iowa. He, his son Robin and grandson Pat (who is in the Iowa legislature being groomed for Grandpa's job) have ...

Re: The end of Ethanol-free fuel in the US

This is all very disturbing. I wish this current administration would just go away quietly. Hopefully the appointed heads under the new administration will have a modicum of common sense and work to make things better, not worse. And I'm sure before the current admin leaves, he will give us more re...
