'84-'85 GL1200I rear trunk reflector bar & Haynes manual

I'm offering a genuine Honda Rear Trunk Reflector, Honda part # 33750-MG9-771, for the 1984 and 1985 GL1200 Interstate Goldwing. It's brand new; I got it to replace the cracked one on my bike, then sold the bike before I put it on. These are selling on Ebay used/new from $110-$170. I'm offering it f...

Re: Can you identify?

RobH, Try the Bike Bandit website if you want parts break-downs. Some of the pictures are good, others are full of smudges and coffee stains ;). Sometime I just go there to keep my parts tech skills honed... Thanks! I'm trying to sell it on Ebay for a fraction of what they cost. That, and a Haynes ...

Can you identify?

Interstate front.JPG Interstate back.JPG Hi, All. I'm trying to identify the Interstate reflector pictured below. All I know is that it's not off an '86! Unfortunately, the GoldWing parts schematics I've been able to find don't give me a clear enough picture to identify (unless I'm looking in the w...

LONG term storage question

Hi, All. I've read the excellent posting by administrator on winterizing my bike, but I've got to go further than that, and am looking to draw on the wisdom of this site as to how to best proceed. I'm going to be leaving the country for just under 3 YEARS :o , and can either a) sell my bike or, b) s...

NOS saddlebag lock w/keys GL1200 for sale

Hi, All. I've got a few brand-new/in the box saddlebag locks for sale. These are as shown in the picture, and come with two keys. The part number is 81215-MG9-771. It's my understanding that they are good for all the GL1200 I & A's, 1984-1986, and the 1984 GL1200, but it never hurts to double-check....

I appreciate the interest but, as my posting notes, my back is such that I've got to go to a significantly lighter bike. Thanks!

I can't thank you enough for this step by step guide. I go back to it each year just to refresh the (aging) memory, and utilize it with my '86 Interstate. Like the rest of this site, a tremendous help! Thanks!

'86 GL1200 Interstate for sale

GoldwingB.JPG Sadly, due to my aging back, the time has come for me to part with my Interstate. The not-so-good: while mechanically sound, it needs some cosmetics: paint is faded (can't afford a commercial paint job, and I can't do it myself). Radio is a marine radio/cd player (cd player doesn't wo...

'86 Interstate for sale - great bike - CHEAP for GW Docs!

Sadly, the time has come for me to sell my 1986 Goldwing Interstate, GL1200I. It's maroon, needs a cosmetic facelift (paint primarily) but is in good running condition, 66k, good tires, battery, pretty new front brake pads and fork seals. The radio works, but it's a marine am/fm/cd, and the cd playe...

Help! GL1200 suddenly not running; I'm at a loss.

I'd surely appreciate any help/guidance with this that any of you could give me. Last week we had a bit of warm weather, and I took my '86 Interstate out for a ride. Ran around a bit for about an hour - no problems. This week I went to start it - it won't start. The engine turns over, but won't even...

brake master cylinder glass replacement

I just wanted to let the forum know of a great resource. The sight window on the brake master cylinder on my '86 Interstate was basically opaque, with what appeared to be crud on it. I tried to gently scrape off the "crud" with my fingernail, and wound up punching a hole in the plastic window. Whoop...

WTB mirrors for '86 Interstate

I'm looking for a single (throttle side) or pair of mirrors to fit my '86 GL1200i. The plastic ball-holder-friction-thing rubber has dry rotted and cracked, allowing the mirror to flop around like a fish out of water.... Thanks! Rob

post-winterizing problem

Okay, I'm an idiot, but I don't know what's up with my '86 GL1200 Interstate. I stored it for a few months with a full tank of gas and Stabil. A situation came up, and I had to ride the bike without switching out the gas. If I'm at speed and roll on the throttle, it shudders and misses. If I roll of...

Re: WANTED: turn signal switch for '86 GL1200 Interstate

What size are your handlbars? I have a Honda set. Left and Right. Came off a 96 Honda. They fit a 1 inch bar. They are alumi. They don't have the hazard switch. But if I remembe right they will plug in. Hey there! Love your moniker.... I hopefully have found a switch assy that will work, but I have...

WANTED: turn signal switch for '86 GL1200 Interstate

Hi, Guys. I'm trying to find a working turn signal switch assembly (#35200-ML8-671) for my "new" 1986 GL1200 Interstate. The one on the bike has seen much better days; the hazard button sticks on, the push-release for the turn signals doesn't work, etc. There's no way I could afford a NOS assembly, ...
