Re: tank bags

Be great... I like tank bags or a faux tank bag for my GL1500. I have an EZ to get into overnight bag in 2 different sizes, tho not as efficient as a tank bag. Problem is the handlebars turn so far, a wide bag won't work. But I get my needed on the road stuff in it. Snacks, glasses, pen, paper, phon...

Re: OIL TASTING

I do know of the old mechanics trick... or was it war wounds?
For bad cuts, pack it with new grease. New grease is sterile or reasonably so.

OOooh, I couldn't do that. Worm guts, gazillions of bacteria etc.
Hot water rinse, grin & bear it, then freeze it with cold water... off to docs later.

We humans are all different, and that IS a good thing. If we were all the same, can you imagine the boredom, stagnation, etc.? I've always been the helpful type, when I first came here (and other 'facts' site), I posted several 'Helpful Heloise' items for all to try if they cared to. NONE were dange...

Not everything done by oldsters was life sustaining or even intelligent. Some things were thought provoking and insightful while others were life threatening and downright ignorant. I'd put Oil Tasting in the later category. . Sooo.... that's only if you're dumb enough to swallow it. That I can't h...

Re: OIL TASTING

Oil tasting? You are kidding right? In today's world, yongsters refuse to learn history, heck, even our Gov pulled it out of schools. Some say it's full of lies others say it never happened because they were not there, still others say it didn't happen to them.... right, just not yet. You know what...

Re: How cold will ya'll ride?

Me and my Wing (sounds like a tune) made it to -17*F about 5 years ago. No elec. heat, just good clothing. ;) I don't even drive my car at that point. -17 Huh! Back in the early 90's Jan. 1st Polarbear ride, I tried riding -21*F... got 2 miles and turned around. But I didn't have the clothing I hav...

Re: 100 mm Front Tire vs 110 mm Front Tire

You have several models listed.

In general...
QUICK & NIMBLE (but less grip) narrow.
Longevity and grip, as wide as possible.

I use a 130/80-18 on my 1500. It JUST fits.

Not so much pressure as volume.I used a hand pump. OH!!! you're correct. It's like saying... Formica top using Wilsonart material. Zerox copy when it's a HP or Brothers machine. Let's go for a drive on the bike. _________________________________ How's your rebuild going? And the flood lawsuit?

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

Auto shut-off is good for inner & near inner city riding, stoplights tend to be long and TOO frequent. That system is a balance between saving fuel verses mechanical wear-n-tear costs. Now since the Alt & Starter are in one, it's WILL BE COSTLY to repair. To me it's easier and cheaper to m...

Re: size of 1500 screw

I agree with aj1500. Only added point while turning is very little increments, turn both ways. If you start feeling a mushy feel, the screw is about to break. Hopefully there'll be a stud to use vise grips on. And DO NOT use any 'nut busting' oils unless you're ready to rebuild the seals. 2nd to las...

Re: Air up valve stem

Right rear shock. Careful on pressure, it loads VERY quick, use a pressure limiting device. HINT: Using a pencil gauge can/will lose several pounds of unknown pressure. Some air compressors have a pressure limiting outlet. Also they're not expensive, Harbor F. has'm for about $10.00 BUT!!! you need ...

Re: Which tire?

Dave, it does help.
It appears ILL get around 12-14k on that Spitfire. Rear tires are a bit more stout with a 32 or 2 deeper tread.
I ask since there's one out there on sale, just under $110.00 again, it's a rear tire.
THANKS...still contemplating.

Re: Which tire?

Dave.
I'm currently running a rear Spitfire up front. Took a good week, 700-ish miles, to well scuff the surface, (hard braking) grabs fairly good now. The Geiger Counter sound is becoming comforting tho still odd.

So Dave, what miles did you get from your Spitfire?

Re: Which tire?

I have a set of Dunlop E4s on my 1800. I currently have a tad under 13,000 miles on them. I would guess that I'll get another 5,000 out of them, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not that great at that type of estimating. They felt a little squirrely when I first.. /dwight Use a depth gauge i...
