Re: Seafoam

The reason why I shot this stuff directly into the carbs after removing the air filter is because I didnt want to be forced to run the gunk in the tank through the carbs. The gas tank has been drained and replaced with fresh gas when I bought it 2 months ago. Since then Ive run only super through i...

Mine do the same but only till bike is warm then it goes away. I have been told it is from bike resting on its side stand but I dont know if that is true, anyway I have had no problems I just let it warm up.

Re: Rear brake anti-torque mod for D404 Dunlops

Both my '82 and '83 have had Dunlap D404 on them in size 140/90-16 and have had tires very close but never touching. currently the '82 has a Dunlap D404 size 130/90-16 and the '83 has a Shinko 230 tour master in size 130/90-16 both have lots of room and have the same ratings (shinko costs a lot less).

Re: REAR BRAKES BLEEDING/LEAKING ISSUE

I have never been a big fan of linked brakes, I modified mine some time ago. To answer your question I have not heard of that valve going bad, ever. unless it gets hit hard some how (such as a wreck). I am sure that someone has them aval if not new then used. In the meantime run a single line from r...

Re: lost rear brakes

I was riding down a mountian in neutral for about 2 miles. When I went to break I had no rear breakes, It was zero. I then rode down the rest of the way in gear and rear breaks slowly came back. Know what causes this? Riding 2 miles down a mountain in neutral is more of a concern than the brakes, t...

Re: restoring 76 and 82 wings

Sounds like your jumping right in. Paint is not a major issue. wiring needs to be addressed I always abvise running relays, these simple devices allow you to power your lights and helps protect your factory systems from damage. Next your '82 GL1100 is powered by a stator (newer Goldwings have altern...

Another item that came up. go to your local Honda dealer or to local bike nights and ask about other Goldwing riders. Once you find a few I am sure someone will comeover and help you thru this. we all love working on these machines.

Straight black is good (I have seen factory '82 and '83 with black paint) I had my wifes '82 repainted with a 3 tone blue paint job that just pops. I am saving my cash to repaint my '83 as wild as I can. I have seen Goldwings from flameing pink to flat black the choice is yours, and with everything ...

Bigjim all is not lost, these bike are like a Timex they take a licking and keep on ticking. OK yes pull all four plugs and shoot some Penetrating oil into each cylinder (spray alot in there you want it all covered) let that sit over night or two and try getting engine to turn over by pushing it WIT...

I would also check that hoses are in good shape and clamps are tight. I had one that had a very small hole in lower Radiator hose, it was so small that once engine was hot it cooked the drops off before I saw them and once engine started to cool hole would close up leaving only a small drop under th...

I would start by determining first if engine is siezed up, Put bike in 2 or 3 gear hold clutch in roll foward a bit and release clutch, you should feel the wheels turning engine over. If all is good there you can be releived problem is minor. check "all" electrical connections for corosion this caus...

if there is gas on top of engine from a leaking carb it still would not be getting into cylinder, so thats a seperate problem. if bike was stored on side stand I am sure some oil has gotten into left cylinders and that is what is smoking. I would change out oil and filter, change air filter, drain a...

Dark green wires on hondas are usually ground wires. inside the fairing is alot of wires, as I am sure you noticed. and many of those wires have fuses and/or fuseable links which can be a problem over time. and as you said you just got the bike. SO, lets assume that the last owner did some wireing a...

I agree. even if you need to replace the head itself these engines run forever. my wifes '82 aspencade just topped 110,000 and its still going strong. try getting more than 50,000 out of an H/D without a engine rebuild.
