Name those wires

I have a 93 Aspencade that I bought used. In the left hand glove box there are two wires with mini-jack ends on the and about 6 feet of wire each. I have speakers in the rear and a silver knob on the dash that was added. Does anyone know what these are? I was wondering if they were for a comm system...

Re: Front shock air pressure

I had new tires mounted last week and the Lead Mechanic at our local Honda dealer told me you can add up to 14 but have use a hand pmp. He also told me the valves were added to relieve pressure in the forks.

Re: 89 gl1500 right rear shock issue

I had to weld the lower connector to my air shock. I simply compressed the shock to get all the oil out of it before welding. After that I put it on the bench and added fluid as I extended the shock. It sucked the oil right in. After mounting it run the shock from 0 to 59 psi and any excess will ble...

As a new Goldwing rider I am looking for tips on riding in the rain. Rode for a few minutes yesterday and did not like it. The wife and I are going on a 5 hour trip and I want to make sure I have everything in order. Thanks!

Metzeler ME 880 vs. Dunlop E3 opinions

Just looking for some advice on my tire choice. I have read many love/hate blogs on these two. If you've had both I would like to know which you prefer and why. I know they are both fine tires. I have OLD E3's now but the ME880's look good, too.

Re: Broken RR Shock Lower Connector Broken

After getting the shock TIG welded and getting it refilled with oil I installed it and it works like new. I did overfill the shock with 5w fork oil so when I took it off the stand she leaked the excess out. After several up and downs she quit leaking and holds pressure like a champ. Anybody got an i...

Re: Muffler repair question

I was able to get her fixed today, I found a 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 " adapter that fit nicely into the collector. I was able to get the broken section of pipe out of the muffler. I cleaned the entire area with a wire wheel and got it very clean. I inserted the adapter into the collector and put a couple of ...

Re: While waiting for my rear tire...

Hey Keith, I priced the boot for the air shock and Honda wants $40. Do you have a part number or info for the boot you got at Autozone? Mine was ripped to shreds. Also, I had the lower connector welded back on my air shock and overfilled it...found that out when I roller her off the center stand and...

Muffler repair question

While putting my bike back together after a laundry list of repairs my RH muffler broke where it comes out of the collector. I can't afford a new collector and I know the muffler can be saved. Is there a temporary fix I can make until my wife releases more funding. If I run this way can I burn a val...

Re: Drive shaft install problem

I got it together with some help from my son (an aerospace engineer), a broken golf club and romex. We jacked up the swingarm, inserted the shaft of the golf club into the yoke and lifted it it up, then we ran a piece of Romex under the yoke from the boot to hold it up. The driveshaft went right in....

Re: Drive shaft install problem

Thanks again, Mike! Just got my shock back from the and am going to reassemble it all tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure I did not mess up the splines. I'm glad I got to take apart and fix a lot of neglected areas.

Drive shaft install problem

I just replaced the oil in my final drive and greased both ends of my driveshaft. I can see the yoke and that it is lying inside the swingarm pointing slightly down, I have tried numerous times to line up the splines but each time they only go in part way and don't seen to want to go in anymore (it ...

First let me say this site is amazing. Thank you to all who have read and helped me nurse my bike back into shape. I am replacing the rear tire (it's an 06), I have lubed the driveshaft, checked the brakes, repaired my swing arm rub issue, getting my air shock welded, replaced the final drive oil an...

Re: Broken RR Shock Lower Connector Broken

Thanks, Dan1951. I have a tool and die buddy who I am going to have look at it. You can see from the bottom that it has been pounding for a while. I was going to try to run a tap in the hole, run a bolt into it and try to pull the bottom a bit flatter, but it seems faily beefy right there. I hope he...

I know the bike needs a lot of TLC and some grease. I'm going to get a new rear tire and grease up the splines. I am changing the final drive oil, too. I will look at the collar when I'm at the Honda shop and, if needed, get a new collar. I will repost a picture of the new collar, if I get it. The b...

Final Drive Collar Flaired

So...after taking the rear tire off and finding a broken air shock I found another issue. I pulled the collar out of the final drive and it is flaired out on the end (see picture). Can I replace this collar or do I need to dig deeper? Really loving all the assistance from you all. I can't say enough...

Re: Rear tire rub on 93 1500

MikeB, it looks like the thin metal that wraps around the frame of the swingarm and should have a weld on it to seal it came apart. I don't have a clue what could have caused it, but rocks and dirt got in it and it was out about a 3/8". I looked at he left side and it has a weld line sealing it. I g...

Re: Rear tire rub on 93 1500

A.J., completed the procedure you gave me with only a couple of issues. The previous owner added a welded support bracket for the hitch. Fortunatly, he also added an adjustable coupler on both sides. I also had to take the add-on hitch electrical connector off. After this I was able to raise the bag...

Re: Rear tire rub on 93 1500

Thanks, A.J. It's about 105 in the garage now, so I might wait until it cools a bit. The procedure looks easy enough. I am planning on replacing the tire anyway, so hopefully I will find a spacer missing. It does not look like there is too much else that can be going wrong.

Rear tire rub on 93 1500

I have a 93 Aspencade that is rubbing the rear tire on the RH side of the tire. My mechanic said it could have been from the previous owner when the tire was low. I scuffed up the tire and could see new rub marks after riding today. It is about in line with the swingarm. I tried to see if there was ...
