Thanks Again.

I just used your excellent procedure to remove my rear tire and clean and re-grease the splines. It took me about 4 hours to get the wheel off, and about as long to clean and grease everything. Thanks for the excellent writeup. Thanks to you I saved about $100 by taking the wheels off the bike to ge...

Re: Progressive suspension

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to get the 416's, but got no $$$. I bought a set of Progressive springs to go inside the stock Honda shocks for $60 from Bike Bandit and a set of seals. Still waiting for them to arrive. I built myself a spring compressor, but you can buy the Progressive tool 32-5507 f...

Progressive suspension

OK, the stock suspension on my '82 GL1100I is either not working porperly or it never did work very well. I am continuing to get it to bottom out at speed on the highway. I don't see any oil anywhere, so I don't think it's leaking. I've seen some people use the Progressive 416 replacement air shock/...

Brake pedal adjustment

I posted my question on the CLassic Goildwing site about adjusting the brake pedal height. I got one reply that said, sure no problem just fiddle with it. Then I thought about checking the Goldwing Doc's site. Bingo, as part of your procedure on rear master cylinder repair you have lots of pics and ...

Re: Mufflers again!

Hello, Most people who do that cut the muffler off after it brings the two into 1 pipe. Then they get a flange from an auto parts store to change the pipe diameter to the diameter of the muffler. I've seen a large clamp around the muffler which then bolts onto the frame of the bike and your done. So...

Lower rail/light bar, 82 Int, $75

These are off my 1982 GL1100 Interstate. I'm not into the lights, but these are in good shape. I think there may be 2 or 3 bulbs which don't work. The wiring was porrly done by the PO, so that may be the problem. It has the little teardrop lights as well and the mounting brackets. I have the little ...

Re: 1983 Interstate Electrical Short

If you replaced the solenoid an dit still blows then it aint the solenoid. I don't see how it could be the starter either, since the solenoid control the power to the solenoid. Which connection are you plugging in? The heavy wire to the solenoid or the smaller control wires? You need to do a little ...

Re: question about goldwing snorkel system

Can't go wrong for $150. I never heard of a snorkle system? Isn't that just the on board compressor for the front and rear suspension? Just about everything for these bike sis avaialable on ebay and the various MC salvage yards on there.

Re: 86 GL1200i just cuts off.

I had a 1970 Beetle that did the same thing. I discovered it was vapor lock in the fuel pump. It would run just fine till I stopped with it hot and go in a store or buy gas, then it would start and die right away. I guess once the fuel in the carb got used there was no more and it died. I used to ca...

GL1200 Russell Day Long Custom Saddle $250

I bought this to put on my GL1100. It will sort of fit, but will require some effort to shim it up here and there. I am thinking or reselling it to some lucky GL1200 owner. It really is in great shape. 4130310932_141d272842_b.jpg 4131902339_b35b2a02bb_b.jpg 4132664844_1af58e6cb4_b.jpg 4132664982_abe...

Re: Walkaround videos of my bike

I have some highway flat boards out in front on the engine guard. I keep forgetting to fold them down when I start. I'm not going to try and kick them down while I'm on the highway. I will give them a try on the next ride.

Re: A nice ride.

Yes, I am really lucky. She loves to play golf, and she goes with me every July to Oshkosh, WI for the EAA Airventure where I spend a week looking at airplanes, and she loves to ride motorcycles, as long as they're Goldwings. I checked the gauge lights tonight and they work just fine. Perhaps it was...

A nice ride.

Yesterday I took my wonderful wife along on the Goldwing. She complained about not havin genough room between the backrest and me. So I repositioned the trunk mounting brackets to move the trunk back about 2 inches. I just drilled new holes and put in new pop rivets. It worked great. That way I can ...

Re: Walkaround videos of my bike

Very cool video. You really have it tricked out. Do you like the floor boards and heel toe shifter? My knees tend to get tired of being in the same position, and I was thinking that afloor board would allow you to have some movement.

Re: GL1100 exhaust system where to buy?

This is the first positive thing I've heard about the MAC exhaust. I've heard several people say they rust right away. For about the same price you can get the Jardines, and for about $100 more you can get the Motad's which are stainless steel. I need the right side replaced, so I will probably stic...

Re: Starter and suspension.

Cool beans. I finally got a nice day on the weekend and my wife and I went for a ride. I put about 50 lbs in teh back shocks and about 20 in the front. I noticed right away the bike sat a lot higher. Even with both of us on there it didn't bottom out. Cool beans. I really like the way the bike rides...
