Fork brace?

I been reading that these aftermarket gl1200 frok braces improve the handling. Has anyone here installed these and if so, what are your thoughts?

Running the seafoam before I start seems a good thing to do. I also hear some people adding it to OIL??? I read "add a 1/2 can to FRESH oil, run i...

Re: Exhaust gaskets

Sometimes you can get away with reusing those crush gaskets. I did the same thing on my after replacing the starter. The ones I ordered of course didnt fit. I did get an extra couple of sets in case I need them.

Re: fuel system 86 interstate

I ended up putting a 85 prelude pump on it and WOW no more clicking. They look ugly as all get out but I will pull it off and paint it. If your gl1200 pump is giving ya fits these prelude pumps WORK!!!

Re: Build my own Trailer

Cost wise I'd use an arc welder. I built many different projects with a small gas-less mig welder and as long as the material your working with is 1/4 inch or less they work great. Here is a link to my little welder http://www.sears.com/craftsman-wire-feed-welder-gasless/p-00920568000P#reviewsWrap G...

Re: howling noise

Yep tire noise is normal. A tire under inflated will cause it to even be a bit louder. I'd also check the wheel bearings for a peace of mind. I do bearing checks as part of my every winter teardown.

Re: wont start 86 interstate

Update! starter arrived today! along with a cylmar manual. HOLY smokes! the manual says to do the repair while on the center stand! I have been reading this is NOT the way to do it. They also say remove the shifter, the exhaust, engine gaurd and support the motor with a jack. I am thinking this is a ...

Re: Replacing the starter

OK thanks I'll get the exhaust off anf the one stud bolt off and then put it on the side stand for the starter removal. I had assume since those directions were for a gl1100 that the gl1200 could be done on the center stand. Thanks for the heads up!

I am new to this "fuel pump trick" I dont think the 87 prelude pump would work. If it's a new pump I would'nt worry that it's for an 85 prelude or an 87 My two cents worth

Re: ground location

Look at the battery ground and follow that cable to where it is bolted to the chassis. Where it is bolted could be loose. Not only could it be loose but it could be corroded. Take it off and clean both sides of the cable and the area where it contacts the frame and the back side of the bolt. Thanks...
