Re: Stator? 1983 Goldwing

Thank you for your insights, suggestions they saved the day! I had spent most the weekend tearing the bike down layer by layer, in search of an ailment. And damned if I could find a cure. It wasn't till the late hours of saturday evening that the culprit showed itself to me. With the bike in pieces,...

Re: Stator? 1983 Goldwing

There is nothing aftermarket turned on when put in gear as well It made no difference with the clutch in, cylinder missing would continue. Just fired it up now and same problem, there is lots of juice in battery as she turns over real quick, headlight, radio everything works, but voltage meter reads...

Stator? 1983 Goldwing

Hello All I would like to ask for your advice, possibly someone has experienced this. The bike fires up without any effort, runs smoothly. This am was no different, until I put it in gear to leave. The voltage meter dropped to zero and it seemed one possibly two cylinders stopped firing. A lot of sp...

White Exhaust

Hello All Having pulled my goldwing out of storage for the first ride of the season, it was going all to well when on my return home I notice white exhaust trailing me. It seemed mostly to be coming from the one tail pipe ( clutch side) and once home I could see very well this was not a good sign. T...

Re: 1983 1100A GoldWing Aspencade

It looks like I am on the last of the threads ... if the cable has stretched over time I might be to go back to where it was? it almost seems like that threaded rod should have been a little longer on the bottom end. As it looks this way on the 82 s but not so on the 83.

Re: 1983 1100A GoldWing Aspencade

There is no slipping, but the cable does seem to be to long. I guess they stretch overtime, possible a new cable would help

1983 1100A GoldWing Aspencade

Hello All I was adjusting my clutch for a long weekend trek and see that I will have to use the remainder from below to pick up the cable slack. Does this mean what I think it might mean .. that it is time for a new clutch? Or maybe a new cable? If a new clutch is the case, I notice there are no 'ho...

Re: Charging System - 83 1100A GoldWing Aspencade

I agree with the battery potentially being the problem, and was thinking after charging it to full, the problem might go away, but like I had mentioned, it did not. No, I have not cut out the yellow wire stator connectors and hard soldered them in place. Where would I be looking to get after that? t...

Charging System - 83 1100A GoldWing Aspencade

Hello everyone, On a road trip this past weekend I noticed my charging system was not at par. Cant say I had anything plugged in, or drawing juice outside the lights that are always on. It seemed whenever my rad fan kicked in, my voltage meter would drop to 10.5ish. When the fan kicked out, the mete...

Re: Front Brakes - 83 GoldWing GL1100A Aspencade

Yes .. it was the plastic side that a piece broke off in my hand. Those metal ears could be worn, but it didnt seem so. From what I could see the plastic unit side is not replaceable. Now I have talked to honda ... they want me to replace the whole unit $125.

Re: Front Brakes - 83 GoldWing GL110A Aspencade

Wow .. you are so talented, good job. The earlier models 81 -82 seems to be like the picture. Mine an 83 is made a little different. On the hub side a ring with two ears are a metal type and on the speedo side Its like a hard plastic. Those two ears are whats worn, as one fell off into my hand while...

Re: Front Brakes - 83 GoldWing GL110A Aspencade

Regarding the speedo - yes this is exactly the cause. It looks like wear "to those ears" has left them not making contact. You say you can build up those ears ... impressive! Any photos on this or how too`s?

Re: Front Brakes - 83 GoldWing GL110A Aspencade

I never took a pic. What I did was repacked it with grease and put things back together. Interesting the vac suggestion for the bleeding the brakes. I have never used one, are they cheap enough to purchase?

Front Brakes - 83 GoldWing GL110A Aspencade

I had the opportunity to change out my front tire this weekend and while the front end was apart I did a brake job as well. All in all the project went pretty well. These How to Articles are the cats meow! Thank you so much for them. A couple questions would help me wrap it up. 1/ Although the speed...

Re: HeadLight - 83 GoldWing

Yes, the fairing is the hondaline as in the picture. After some wiggling and yet more contemplation there is know way to reach the bulb from the front side. Your advise must be so .. as it has to be approached from the backside. Removing the knob is going to free up the headlight, go figure! Thanks ...

HeadLight - 83 GoldWing

Here s another silly question My headlight s low beam has stopped working, although the high beam is fine. Thinking a new bulb is in order, however, not sure if I go in from the front, or the rear of the basket? It seems the windjammer is snuggled tightly around the light itself leaving know screws ...

Exhaust - GoldWing GL1100

Hi to all,

While giving the old girl a wash I came across a small hole in its chrome exhaust pipe. Right side, below passager foot peg, on the bottom half of the pipe. Obviously this needs to be dealt with and am open to possible solutions.

thx,m

Re: Service Manual for 83 GL1100A Goldwing

Could it be that the top sprocket on the starter clutch has worn its teeth and therefore have caused the starter chain to bined, seizing, or locking the engine?
