Re: Turn Signal Flasher wiring question

I don't know if people noticed but my original post included a picture that shows what I'm talking about. I need to know how to wire the Turn Signal Flasher because it has two inputs but there are three wires coming from the wiring harness. If someone with a 79 Gl1000 could please look at their bike...

Turn Signal Flasher wiring question

I'm putting together a GL1000 that I bought in pieces. How does the Turn Signal Flasher connect to the wiring harness? The Flasher only has two wire inputs but there are three wires coming from the wiring harness. Also, what do the two wires below the black box connect to. Its not the left side horn...

Wanted 78-79 Gauge Cluster Plastic

I need the plastic piece that holds the fuel, temp, and voltage gauges on a 78-79 gl1000. I only need the plastic part I already have the gauges, but I need the part and would be willing to buy a set with the gauges. I also need the alternator rotor bolt cover. I may also want a battery box, but onl...

Intake Clamps

Any idea where I could find clamps for the intake manifolds. I know randakk sells clamps that will work however at 32 bucks I would prefer that they look a lot better than they do. It's hard finding a clamp with a narrow enough band. If anyone has found anything in a store or on the Internet I would...

Re: 78 gl1000

I'm pretty sure that the o-rings used between the fuel petcock and gas tank are the same as the Carb-to-Plenum o-rings used between each carb and the central air plenum. If you've ever done a carb rebuild and happened to keep you're used parts you could probably get by with a used one. If not Randak...

Re: Vacuum Piston Questions

I'm not that picky about getting perfect stoichiometry in all four cylinders I just want to be sure that the bike will be able to start. It has been sitting for 7 years and I want to be sure that everything is ok when I try to start it. It would seem that the weight of the piston itself would provid...

Re: Vacuum Piston Questions

Thanks for the info. I'm going to go back to the original jet needles, there's nothing wrong with them anyway. I know that spring is going to cause a problem because if you turn the whole assembly upside down the piston with the odd spring in it doesn't drop as far. Is there anyway to acquire replac...

Vacuum Piston Questions

I have a 79 GL1000 project that I bought with the carbs completely disassembled. The carbs came to me in pieces in a bag. Because of this I do not know what vacuum piston goes with what carb. The vacuum piston covers were marked so I was able to match them up. Is there anyway that I can tell what pi...

Re: 79 carb rebuild questions

Thanks for the info. I got the little filters off by soaking them in warm water and then using a socket wrench to lightly grip the filter. I the turned them a few times and they came off. I found the missing spring so I now have all four. The brass elbows were actually removed from the carb so I wou...

79 carb rebuild questions

I'm rebuilding the carbs from a 79 GL1000 that I bought as a project. When I got the bike the carbs were already disassembled. I cannot figure out where the idle air jet (#130 in the rebuild kit) goes. From the disassembled parts that I have it does not look like the previous owner removed it. Also,...
