Re: Light em up!

The rapid blink signal light issue could be solved with a resistor. Those are sold for this purpose but you need one per bulb, not just one per side. Some cars have sensors for a light out, and that sensor picks up on led bulbs, making the system think a bulb is out. The resistor simulates the highe...

1996 alternator replacement

Just replaced my stock alternator with 90 amp alternator from EMSGlobal. I had previous issues with charging, lights dimming with low RPM's and engine dying when using reverse. The issues was getting worse, and with the extra el load from sidecar, I decided to upgrade instead of repairing old altern...

Re: No start and a lot of cranking, fuel smell

I plugged in my CTEK Multi XS 3600 battery tender a while ago, and the battery now stays fully charged while the bike is sitting. Cranking, and starting, is not a problem ....but only while using Start gas (Ether) in the air intake. Checked the auto fuel shut-off valve with vacuum pump. It does not ...

No start and a lot of cranking, fuel smell

My bike has been sitting for a month or so. 1996 GL1500SE . Now it will not start, regardless how much I crank. I also smell fuel , but only when cranking. My first thought was flooding. I let it sit for a few days , and tried again, still no luck. Can it be float needles leaking, or should it smell...

Re: Easier way to remove GL1500 Rear tyre

I tried the "hinge up" method on my 96 GL1500 with sidecar, but found the mounting for sidecar was in the way for the right sidebag to move up. The right bag holds the battery (car battery) and all the wiring for sidecar. I opted to remove the left bag for easier access, and with 3 wheels, I could j...

Looking to purchase 1996 SE w/sidecar...advice?

Hi. An existing member with many Goldwings behind me, now looking to purchase a 1996 GL1500 SE with Hannigan sidecar. Wonder if I should be looking for particular issues. My last Wing was an 1988 GL1500 wich I did a lot of tlc to after I bought it (neglected bike) . I have never had any of my Wings ...

Re: 93 1500 QUESTIONS ?

I have seen sets of passenger floor boards for sale on E-Bay. Not sure if it is a direct replacement for pegs, but most likely it can be done. I have a 1200 and a 1500. The reverse is nice to have, but I could also do without as easily as with the 1200. You think ahead when you park so you don't hav...

Re: The curse of the Wings...you cannot go back.

My first Goldwing was a 1977 GL1000.....standard/naked. I was about 22 years old at the time. Before that I had owned a couple vintage/classics, but since that first Goldwing, I have never owned anything else. Right now, Goldwing # 4 and #5 is sitting in my driveway. I love the look and I love the r...

The "rubber mat" is below the carbs. Sort of creates a heat shield/ water shield. Some vacuum hoses runs under this mat.

remembering from years ago.....Pirelli typically are made with softer rubber for better traction. Not sure if this is still the case. Softer rubber = better traction = less miles . How about a picture ?

Re: 84 GL1200 interstate trike kit

It seems to me it is more about passed time since the 1200 ended production. I do remember trike kits were readily available back when. Many of them were the ones that adds 2 rear wheels, but keeps the original rear as the drive wheel. "add-on" kit (?) . The 1500 started in 1988, 24 years ago, and k...

Does anyone have, or have seen, a good write-up on front fork rebuild? All I can find in DIY articles are "retighten steering stem bearings" and Heidebills video clip on rebuild. Haha Virgil....great idea, I was thinking of doing that when I did mine, but didn't know what might fall out of the starter head in the process. Glad to know it can be done that way though.
