Re: Backfire and then dead

Do you still have the dog bone fuses? If so get rid of them and replace them with inline fuses, there should be one on the starter selinoid and another one in a fuse box behind the selinoid. Then I would check the starter itself, I had to get a stater rebuild kit for mine recently and rebuild my sta...

Re: 1985 LTD wont start

Have you checked the second dog bone fuse that is located behind the starter relay just behind the battery?
I've replced both dog one fuses on my ltd with inline bled fuses.
There is a fuse in the left side of the fairing under the left storage box.
It's a 7.5 amp fuse

Re: 85 LTD Fuel Injection help needed.

The LTD has a screen filter in the fuel line going into the fuel pump,
Did you pull the fuel line off and check to make sure that filter is not clogged?
If it is you will not get enough fuel flow or Preasure for that engine to run.

Re: stator check

I had my plugs at the regulator/rectifier burn up on me so I have now hardwired those plugs too.
I can add some pictures if you want.
so I would highly recommend that you hard-wire those wires as well..

here are a couple of pictures when the plugs burn up.

Re: stator check

I did the stator in my bike last year and you are right, all you will need is the stator and the cover gasket. I did also replace my Reg/Rectifier as it was toast to. I bought a factory stator from a friend of mine and when I opened up my engine then realized that my LTD has a larger stator then the...

Re: Neutral light

hello, when I bought my 85 LTD I had quite a few electrical issues with it as well, including the neutral light not working. another Goldwing owner recommended I get a can Nu-trol contact cleaner (safe on plastics) and cleaned all electrical contact plugs. I took the time to do that and my neutral l...

Re: Stock Trunk Installation

Hi, I just installed a trunk relocation plate on my Wing,
the spacers go between the plate and the stock rack, if you are installing the trunk without the relocation plate then you don't need the spacers.
the trunk mounts straight onto the stock frame with just the 4 bolts.

Hello Franky, you don't absolutely buy the wiring kit.
when you hard wire the three yellow wires you should be fine with that, I am actually going to install the wiring kit but only because I want too, not because I have to..

Hi Franky, where in Canada are you from?
I bought a stator and a regulator/rectifier last year from these guys and they are working great.
you might only need the regulator/rectifier and I would not hesitate to buy from these guys again.

hello Petar, just a note to keep in mind, the 84 has many parts that are specific to the 84 and are not interchangeable. just something to keep in mind when you need to do some repairs, but then again so is the LTD as it's fuel injection and not carburetor. PS. your maintenance manual is on the way....

Re: Motorcycle Jack Stand

I have one of those lifts, I love it, the width is fine on it. On my 1200 I do have to use a chunk of wood at the back if I plan to remove the exhaust, with out the wood chunk it does lift on the headers and you can't remove them. other then that it is great. I don't regret getting it for one second...

I also have a LTD and what I do in the cooler weather is turn the key on and wait to hear the fuel pump stop running.
then hit the stater switch, it takes a little more to start when it's cooler but that usually works well for me. :D :D

just read your thread and I'll tell you I found. I had a short that in the wiring for my trailer lights. can you clarify which lights you're referring too?
Red Arrow = Driving lights
Black Arrow = cornering lights

the cornering lights come on when you turn on the signal lights.

I installed an HID kit in mine last spring and I would never go back. it truly is 3 to 4 times brighter then the standard halogen light. if you do go that route just make sure you get the 5000K which is the white light. the 6000K and the 8000K are the blue light and is not near as good for your visi...
