Re: Whirr when leaning

I have a 2010 Wing running my second set of Bridgestone's. The first set which came with the bike when it was new did develop cupping only on the front from about 18,000 km. I increased the pressures from 36 on the front to 41 and left the rear at 41psi. The cupping did improve a little but was stil...

Re: engine hunting GL1800

I made the mistake of filling up with E10 fuel one day and found the engine would not idle when I arrived home. The bike definitely had more power. When I did some research on the E10 alcohol fuels I found that there were a few negatives in the use of these fuels so I decided to let the engine cool ...

Re: engine hunting GL1800

Hi collinsa, Have you tried recalibrating the ECM. You do this by starting the engine cold without touching the throttle at all (turn on the ignition and hit the starter button) and let it idle (assuming yours will idle by itself) until the fans kick in. With the current cold weather we are experien...

Indicators not flashing when remote security is activated

Hoping someone can tell me where to look for this electrical problem. When I use my remote control to activate the Honda HISS to lock or unlock my 2010 GL1800 trunk etc. I have noticed recently that the indicators don't flash. I can hear the click as the locks release and I am able to access the tru...

Re: GL1800 Bridgestone tire mileage

I have a 2010 Goldwing purchased new which came with Bridgestone tyres as standard. I managed to get 30,000 km out of these. I have Bridgestones on again and have done 21,000 km so far and will probably get another 10,000 km and have just towed a trailer across Australia for 10,000 of those 21,000 k...

Re: Takata Airbag recall for Cars ?? Goldwing

I posted this topic in July 2015 and now its happening. I received a letter from Honda today stating that my 2010 Goldwing is on the list for a recall relating to the Takata airbag stating "The propellant wafers in some of the subject inflators may degrade over time, which could lead to over-aggress...

Re: None heated seats to heated seats

This document was given to me by one of the Honda dealers when I asked questions regarding the rear seat heater appearing to not work when riding with my wife. I still think its not right but this was their response. This is just for your information which may be off assistance when you do your heat...

Just got back from the Honda dealer after having my 2010 Wing into them for the 4th time for brake issues. This time for replacement of the Master and Secondary Master and fluid replacement as per the Honda recall in Australia. I'm leaving on a 10,000km trip on 13th Feb. so hope all is finally fixed...

Re: Takata Airbag recall for Cars ?? Goldwing

Hi Harvey, I'm in Perth Western Australia and have spoken to the service department of both Goldwing dealers here and they say there has not been any notifications of airbag recalls here. They often say to us "we are waiting to see what happens in the US". I myself have not experienced an airbag dep...

Takata Airbag recall for Cars ?? Goldwing

I'm sure many of you are aware of the airbag recall for Honda cars as well as various other car makers numbering in the millions due to a fault in the Takata airbags fitted to these vehicles. Apparently shrapnel-shooting inflator parts from Japanese supplier Takata have caused the death of at least ...

2010 gl1800 with Erde camper trailer

Has anybody had any experience with this particular model of camper trailer which is made in France. I have had a look at one in the store and it did impress me, especially its light weight (115kg) and practical functionality. http://www.tourlitetrailers.com.au/trailers/motorcycle-trailers/motorcycl...

Re: Leaning vs Countersteering: No BS

Hi wallybee43,
If you are countersteering and you still find you are running wide in the corner due to excessive speed, gently apply the rear brake and you will find that it will pull you into the corner. This has saved my skin several times when I have gone in too fast.

Re: Leaning vs Countersteering: No BS

Hi Wingers, Here is a video which I purchased as a DVD a couple of years ago about the science of riding a motorcycle. It has been uploaded by someone else on YouTube and runs for 1hr 34mins so make sure you have enough data allowance on your account. At 720P it is 1.52GB but is considerably smaller...

Canadian and Australian 2nd GL1800 brake recall

I found this article on the web which relates to a brake recall in August 2014. I thought this had already been dealt with in 2011. I had mine checked in the initial recall and then it failed 1000km later. What do you know about this. Have they found some other problem? http://healthycanadians.gc.ca...

Re: GL1800 Rear brake recall

I bought my 2010 wing new in September 2011. I had my wing checked when the recall notice was made public here in Australia and got the all clear. 1000 km later had a rear brake seize at 100km/hr on the freeway. No brake lockup but very quick deceleration and a terrible burning smell. Had some disag...

Re: Max Tire Inflation?

I would think that over inflating the tyre to extreme pressures would also reduce the amount of rubber in contact with the road which could affect grip during braking and cornering.

Re: Brakes locked up on 2010 GL1800

Just got back from the Honda dealer this morning. They are now going to replace the rear rotor (disc) and pads which I did ask them to do when I initially delivered the bike to them. They said that was not necessary. The disc colour varied from black to a dirty brown and I'm pretty sure the pads wer...

Re: Brakes locked up on 2010 GL1800

Finally got my Wing back yesterday 25th September after delivering it to the Honda dealer on the 20th August (5 weeks and 1 day) for repair of the rear brake lock up. My FM radio gets static when I start to get out of range of the selected radio station especially if running in stereo mode. That's when I switch to the cd player.
