Re: Adding an avatar to your profile

Adding the picture was easy. Thank you. Now how do I rotate it upright? After all, it started upright in my file. Now I am leaned steeper than any goldwinger has a right to do.

Re: How do you brake your Wing?

When I am on the highway in 5th gear, to slow for a turn, I usually begin by downshifting to 4th. Then I will apply both brakes. As I approach the stop, I shift to neutral and then coast while applying the brakes lightly or not at all. Finally at just a few miles per hour. I will finish with the rea...

DIRT riding in South Florida

I posted before (last year) about riding a big bike on dirt roads. Plenty of riders have daily dirt riding experience, live on dirt roads, etc. But NOT on some of the unpaved roads around here in central Palm Beach County! I just got back from visiting Gary who lives on Windmill, about a 5 mile driv...

Re: High-visibility gear

I ride as if I am invisible and no one can see me. Nice that the GW has a loud horn to scare them awake now and then. I don't bother with garish visibility. It doesn't matter when cell phone/textors are oblivious to their surroundings. If you can't see my bright blue "baby elephant" in the middle of...

Passenger Rules

I don't usually take passengers, and that includes family. However, my Friend Robbie requested a ride. My usual instruction was to sit in line with the bike and mimic a strapped down package. For him this was not sufficient. Because while I was holding the bike upright, he puts one foot on the passe...

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!

"Excessories" for the F6B should include the following: Loudspeaker connected to a continuous play tape, playing the tune - potato, potato, potato. Eccentric rotating out of balance shaft to cause uncomfortable vibration. Replacement breakaway hardware to hold the bike together temporarily. That way...

Movies from your Wing

I want to attach my small HD Video camera to my Goldwing. What is the best way to do this? the worst way might be duct tape or doublebubble chewing gum.

Riding in a flood

I have not ventured out on my Goldwing this last week as we had 18 inches of rain in 2 days. The roads were flooded. but not very deep on my street. How deep is too deep to ride a Goldwing? I did not want to take my SUV in anything over 6 inches. Anyway that's the situation in Western Palm Beach Cou...

Re: First serious trip of the season

My wife found a cure for saddle butt ( though Goldwings have the most comfortable seating), PADDED PANTIES. She can sit a lot longer with less discomfort. I have yet to try them, but, it works for her, so why not?

Re: Goldwing birthday presents

There is another chat line here about how OLD Goldwing riders are in age. Made me feel young. So, I thought people would be posting Goldwing incontinence pads, walkers, and 'I fell and can't get up' alarm button necklaces. But there must be coffee mugs, beer cozy and shot glasses. Surely there's oth...

Goldwing birthday presents

Just had a birthday. My wife got me a Honda Goldwing wrist watch and a Goldwing belt buckle. I am very happy with these.
What other Goldwing paraphernalia is out there?

He is "carrying", I'm "schlepping". I'ts hard to conceal that cobray. Makes me look fat. I once dated a woman who had a concealed weapons permit. And you know, ladies don't have pockets, so if it doesn't go in the purse, it's in the bra. Her boobies looked like derringers! She said, " Don't touch th...

Goldwing vs Hoda Civic

When people ask about my Godwing (Almost everyone who sees me with the bike), I have a standard explanation. I tell them that I bought a Honda Civic, but the dealer forgot to put on two of the wheels, the doors and the roof. And going to the dealer is such a hassle. I just don't feel like going back...

I'll be 64 next month. Hanging out at a bike shop, I saw guys my age bragging that they still ride. Or saying, "Not sure how much longer I'll be riding."

Fear of Dirt Roads

I've been riding my Goldwing for thousands of miles (since purchase last fall) and have avoided using dirt roads. Are my fears of ill handling in the dirt justified? After all, my wing does in no way resemble a dirt bike. It just ain't no ISDT( As if anyone knows what those are) or motocross model. ...

Who needs a first aid kit?

The monthly contest prize is a 'first aid kit'. Looking at the contents, it is clearly deficient. No vodka! It does have one useful item. If you get in an accident, you need a bandage to place over your mouth so you don't say anything stupid! There is a guy ridding around Palm Beach County on a 1929...

Re: We triked our bike!

When I first rode a goldwing, I had to fight a tendency to ride in the middle of the lane, since I was now wider than on my narrow old bike. So, I was getting into the greasy oily section of the road. How do you AVOID the oil streak in the middle of the road?
And, If you don't, isn't that unsafe?

Multi-Task Motorcycling

I have never been so distracted ridding a motorcycle as I have been on my Goldwing. Adjust the radio. Set the cruise control. Adjust the headlight elevation. Get rid of that commercial, change the radio station. New speed limit, re-adjust the cruise control. Don't like that music, get another statio...

Dear Thumper, As you are now a Goldwing rider, You must CHANGE YOUR NAME! Godwings are a long way from the ungodly thumper. Happy ridding and I hope you're ridding yourself of the old thumper. Now that you are no longer stuck with that old girl with one jug. (When I rode a twin, I used to say that a...
