Re: LCD Module Inop

There is so much on the clock and LCD, I'm not sure which topic to chime in on. Picked up my Wing 3 1/2 years ago. Constant problem with the LCD going blank along with the clock and or the clock just frozen. Then when it displays again it runs really fast. Now this happens lots during the winter due...

Re: How to replace your GL1500 shifter oil seal

Actually I did change that seal when I bought the bike 3 1/2 years ago at 63K. When I installed the shifting brace. It now has 98K. Removal was not an issue...shocker. Well today I loosened the 2 side mounting bolts and was just starting on the left front engine mount bolt. It was being very difficu...

Re: How to replace your GL1500 shifter oil seal

Had installed the shift support several years ago. Kept smelling a burnt oil smell lately, so with a little rain in the forecast time to investigate. Yip leaking shift shaft seal. Looked the How-to over and started the process. Had installed the shift support a few years back so all was going well.....

Re: GL1500 cruise engage lag

I had my bike apart this weekend to fix the reverse, so seeing as I had the bodywork off anyway, I did this procedure - using dingdong's method. I cranked the adjustment out until the idle just barely started to climb, then backed it off just about 3/4 turn and locked it with the jam nut. It works! ...

Re: Off idle throttle hesitation

Check for a vacuum leak. Make sure the carbs are in sync. If the bike sat for any length of time without fuel stabilizer, run some Sea Foam thru with a tank of gas. If it did sit W/O fuel stabilizer you may have a clogged jet or passage way.

Re: ABS Plastic Repair - Loctite Epoxy Gel, Plastic Bonder

The stuff worked great. I cut the replacement tab to length using the other cover to measure off of. Inserted the tab into the rubber grommet and then put a little epoxy on the tab and some on the side cover. Kind of like buttering a brick before putting it in place. I then put the side cover on and...

ABS Plastic Repair - Loctite Epoxy Gel, Plastic Bonder

I have seen the different methods of repairing cracked and broken plastic parts on our Wings. I have been a big user of the ABS cement for making repairs and even using clay molds to pour my ABS slurry in to make parts. Well when I bought my 96 Wing it had a few missing or broke parts. One being the...

Re: Making A Heavier Stator and Rectifier for 1200 Goldwing

The stator lives inside the engine. I would ask the owner if it's ever been changed. There is a 3 prong plug by the battery 3 yellow wires in and out. Check to see if this plug has heat damage or if it's been replaced and hard wired. The 12oo is a fine bike as I've had two. Just the stator is it's A...

Re: I Love this Beemer

Update. I have now put about 700 miles on the Beemer. Had the fuel injectors cleaned, ultra sonic cleaned, that stopped the fuel leak while parked. Getting about 43mpg per tank. So now the "Wing" is the Land Yacht The "Beemer" the canyon carver I have had several people inquire about trying to purch...

I Love this Beemer

Since 1985 I have always had a Goldwing as my ride, except for work bikes, (Kawasaki and a couple HD's). Well I got this bike from a friend who hadn't ridden it in 14 years. Needless to say I have a lot of hours in this. Took a lot to get it back into road shape. Well just as I was finishing up and ...

Re: Aftermarket replacement for GL1500 fuel pump

I have put about 3k on my new fuel pump and the bike runs like a fine tuned sewing machine... When I replaced the pump I bought the Fuel hose, Gates submersible fuel hose #27093 for $20 on eBay. $30 in the parts store. Since then while replacing a fuel pump in a BMW, I found this fuel hose which is ...

Re: Recommended octane rating for GL1500's

The frame label under the right side cover shows 91 octane for my 1996 SE California model. I have run Regular or 86/87 octane since I bought the bike used in July 2014 with 63k. The bike now has 72k and runs like a fine tuned clock. I have never heard a ping or a knock and the plugs look great. May...

Re: Aftermarket replacement for GL1500 fuel pump

Sits at the same height. In fact the filter that fits on the end of the fuel pump was bent over touching the bottom of the tank.Only way to know for sure is to put 2 gals in and put the line that goes to the fuel filter in a container and run it till the light comes on. Mark it and then run it till ...

Re: Aftermarket replacement for GL1500 fuel pump

OK I did the conversion to the Napa Fuel Pump and took a 200 mile ride on Sunday. Worked like a champ. No issues anyway. It's a easy fix. I used the rubber round holder that came with the pump. It fits just a little loose around the pump but snugs up nicely in the bracket. The little piece that stic...

Re: Aftermarket replacement for GL1500 fuel pump

Was wondering, when you change to the aftermarket pump, do you need a piece of fuel hose that is OK to put in the tank where it will get soaked in gas? Such as the Napa H209. Kind of pricy... $32+ a foot. http://www.berrysweb.com/1500_fuel_pump.htm Berrysweb says you need a foot of fuel hose but doe...

Re: whiney noise in my intercom head phones

Mine has that faint wining noise at slow speeds when using the helmet speakers. Also increases in pitch with RPM. Goes away at speed or is drowned out by wind noise. Is not heard when using the MC mounted speakers.
