Idle speed

I have a 98 1500 Aspencade with 7,000 miles. It is all stock. The engine idles speed is very inconsistent. It varies from 600 to 2000 rpm. The carbs are clean and the spark plugs are good. I would like some direction before I start to remove the plastic as to what the problem may be so I can order t...

The new Goldwing will have the front end from the Rune and the trunk will match the saddlebags. As far as electronic updates: wait and see!

Blown fuses

I need some help. I have a '98 1500 wing that is blowing fuses. It is the fourth fuse from the bottom. The one for the rear running lights and dash lights with the fuel and temp gauges. I have recently burned the relay for this circuit also. There is nothing modified on this bike, and has fog lights...

Re: Went To The Darkside

Can anyone tell me what size and brand will fit on the rear of a 2012 wing and how about the rear of a 2012 fatboy. 2007-2012 fatboys take the same size rear tires. I am just discusted with the low mileage and high cost of mc tire. Thanks for any help.

Car Tires

A few months ago someone posted a list of car tires that would fit a goldwing and some Harleys. I have a 2012 goldwing and a Harley fatboy and would like to try car tires on the of my bikes. Thanks, Chris

Re: Auto Tire on the Rear, GL1800

More than ten years ago I tried to mount a car tire on the rear of my Kawasaki vulcan 1500. I could not get the bead to seat. Has anyone had any problems getting the bead to seat on the goldwing rims? I ran the pressure up to 80 psi on the Kawasaki rim but the tire would not seat. I did not have the...

Re: GL1800 Starter Question

This might help the situation a bit. If you use an engine oil with friction modifiers {slippery additives] you will probably have some starter clutch problems. Use Honda GN4 or a motorcycle oil that is safe for wet clutches. Most of these do not contain friction modifiers. Hope this helps.

Re: What's Living Inside Your Air Box?

Why doesn't Honda build these things with the wire mesh over the air intakes. After all, they are the ones that make changing the air filter a huge job. Seems they can design an easier way to change the air filter. But I guess it is another way for the dealer to make money on something the owner sho...

Re: 2010 1800 GL first oil change

I am pretty religious when it comes to oil changes especially with a new engine. So when I got to 750 miles on my 2010 1800 GL that I bought new in Feb 2012 I went to buy oil. The parts people at the dealership almost lost it when I wanted to go Synthetic (which I have used for years in everything)...

Hey all , first post, glad I found you guys! Just filled out all the purchase paperwork last Saturday and cannot wait for the snow to melt, the dealer offered the Honda extended warranty during the signing process. Anyone buy one? Regrets? Glad you did? $700 for 4 more years on a 20k+ investment se...

Re: How fast is recommended for a1800 wing?

I recently bought a 2009 1800 goldwing and decided to test the top end. Up to 100mph was ok but then instability (weaving)kicked in at about 105+. Has anyone experienced similar? I appreciate the bike is more for cruising but, nevertheless, I was surprised at how unstable it began to feel once I pu...

That tire looks awsome in the picture. I will definitely try one on my wing. Now could you post what brand and model tire it is and what size. Thanks for posting that picture. The sides of the tire look somewhat rounded for cornering.

Re: final drive low level

Well, now I have just over a 1000 miles on my new wing. I drained the final drive oil and it was as black as the ace of spades! I refilled it with semi-synthetic gear oil 75-90 wt. I will keep an eye on it and post my findings. It was very low when I checked it after I bought it! I am averaging 43....

Re: final drive low level

I bought a 2012 wing last September and as with all my new bikes went over it and checked the fluids at about 300 miles. My final drive oil was dangerously low. I filled the gearcase to the top of the filler threads. I have not been able to use the bike due to the winter weather. I will keep an eye ...

Re: Best Oil to use

Let me sum this one up quickly-instead of telling me which oil is the best, which is mostly an opinion, can anyone tell me which oil is a "bad oil"? I thought not. Point is most oils are good. Just change your oil according to the manual and use the recommended viscosity. Enjoy your ride!! Done deal!

Re: 2012 Wing

Mike, if you buy your wing at that dealership you have a screw loose. Please don't get offended but if that is the kind of service you get when you are trying to spend 20k plus, think about what kind of service you will get if you have a warranty claim. Especially if the claim is not a clear cut Hon...

Re: 2012 Wing

On a new bike it is not uncommon to have cosmolean, which is a greasy preservative on the brake rotors. Either they didn't clean the rotors properly or they just needed to "seat-in". As far as power, sometimes the bike is so refined it seems like it is slow. Ride the bike with other bikes and then y...
