Re: Exhuast tip removal

Any I've seen were rivetted on. Some aftermarket turndowns slip right over the whole original tip, have you tried that?

Re: 1500 Brake Pads

EBC's are fine. Honda OEM last longer but cost a lot more, EBC is the best overall for money. Fitting the pads seems easy enough: http://www.goldwingfacts.com/1500frontbrakepads.htm

Re: 1996 GL1500 Aspencade

6psi maximum according to the owners manual. I know some who put 10-12psi in with no problems.

Re: m.p.g. on 1985 1200a

At around 70mph on the highway, I rarely get less than 40mpg. 33 does seem kinda low.

Re: 81 Interstate rear wheel creaking

Spray the shock bushes too, unless you are really sure the noise is from the wheel.

I read somewhere that there used to be a reverse kit available, probably aftermarket.

WingAdmin wrote:That's correct. Have a look at How to remove and replace your water pump - that's the 1100, but it's essentially the same, and that will give you a good idea of what you will be looking at.
I agree, the procedure is the same on the 1200.

Re: Engine Removal 85 LTD

On all GL1200's its better to remove the right side camshaft pulley and timing belt, otherwise they will probably get damaged when you pull the engine forward off the drive shaft. There is an excellent engine removal video and photo tutorial on this page: http://www.goldwingfacts.com/1200engineremov...

RoadRogue wrote:The crank bolt holds the timming pully in place ,but it wont fall off because it is pressed onto the shaft and there is a keyway there to keep it aligned. Have no fear its not going to fall apart on you.
That's correct, the pulley is a nice tight fit on the woodruff key.

4" in mine, and I assume they were original because they were dried and cracked.
