Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

Okay, part two! I am excited about diging back into them and changing every o-ring I can find. Here are my questions 1. Where is the accelerator pump if there is one? I never could locate it as being an accelerator pump like a car. I want to make sure I got this cleaned real good for my second time ...

Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

I go online to www.wildwesthonda.net it is a local honda dealer here in Katy Texas. You can order all OEM parts from that site and have them delivered to your house for a shipping fee or delivered to the store for free. You go to the OEM parts section and put in the year of your bike. Then you can l...

The bike fired up on the first push of the button and idled like a new bike. It was absolutly amazing. I did start to notice some leak...

Re: Last project rear tire

No such thing as the "Last Project" Lucky you. I have an 84i I am having to do all the things you are doing, except add breaks, rebuild all calipers, now change out all lines. I just finished my carbs. You can see my post with Virgilmoble. He is good help. The post is probably one of the largest pos...

Re: bleeding the rear master and caliper

Tricky, tell me more about these stainless lines for the breaks. How much are they, where did you buy them and how hard of a job is it to change them? I have removed the right front caliper and it is in the same shape as the rear caliper. gummed up stuck. I think I will need new lines.

Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

Virgil you make it sound too easy. Okay, one of the carbs butterflys that is turned by the other carb that has a spring between them has slack in the movement of the carb. I mean the mechanical piece that turns the butterfly can be moved 1/8 of an inch before it actualy starts to move the butterfly....

Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

Okay I went to the Honda shop and ordered a seal kit that comes with that screen in it. So I am good $11.00. I have another problem. The first side of carbs went good. everything is clean and snapy. the butterfly valves open and close very quick and they both come to the point of covering the four p...

Do I remove the cap on the Idle jet on the carb that has a tube on the other side? Will I find the idle jet valve just the same on that one?

Re: bleeding the rear master and caliper

Very interesting, and sounds like good logic that the break peddle operates one in the front and one in the back and the hand break adds that extra to the front when needed. Great! I will bleed the front first, but I think I have another problem. Their is no fluid in the rear master and no matter ho...

Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

I did two carbs. When I removed the two idle jets, you said in another post it will have a o-ring spring and of course the needle. Mine only had the spring and needle. Is the oring on the needle or is it in the barrel where the needle goes? When I tare down the last two carbs I will examine again. S...

Going through all our post I found this

"Your gonna want to remove the idle adjust caps to get the needle out to clean the idle port."

Did I do this?? I don't know?? Can you see in any of my pictures if it shows this cap

Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

Okay I will bench test as suggested. When I get to that point I will probably have more questions.

One question I have right now before moving further is, should add the thin washer on the slides to raise the needle as you did?

Re: Carb rebuild 84 1200 interstate

Okay, I got the first carb done and feel really good about it. I think I will do a carb a night, so I should be done by Friday. I am doing one side at a time so I have the other side to look at. My carb looks very clean and I polished the caps that hold the slids in to a perfect shine.
