Buying new tires

Need to pick y'alls brains for a bit. This weekend my daughter and I were riding when the back end suddenly squirrely. You guessed it the back tire done gave up the ghost. Now my questions are: 1) Has anyone ever dealt with motorsport.com? Good, bad, otherwise? 2) What would be a good brand of tire? ...

Re: Clutch not releasing - Clutch lever not soft

Mine did something similar. Turned out it was the slave cyl. Rebuilt that and the clutch master cyl while I was at it. Works perfect now.

Still Riding

Here it is December 19th and I'm still riding. Low 60's here in Southern IL during the day and in the 50's at night. Strange weather we're having but I'm not complaining.

Re: How many managed to get a ride in December 1st?

The wife and I got about a 50 ride in today. 65 degrees here. SO nice we just couldn't resist. Just remembering when she told me "I don't like those motorcycles, they look like motor homes". Then today while riding she says "this will really be nice when we get OUR bigger goldwing". So who am I to a...

Re: Just Hello

When I first got mine it felt clumsy, awkward and even top heavy. Good tires and the correct tire pressure make a world of difference and of course getting to know your girl. Don't give up on her. These are special ladies and take time to get to know. Before long it just seems natural and other bike...

Re: Just Hello

Welcome. There's a great bunch of guys and gals here with an unending fountain of information on Gold Wings. The wings are a heavy critter but you'll get used to it. I was awkward with mine when I got it but now I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Villa Ridge is about 10 miles north of Cairo IL. Down at the very southern tip of the state. Pretty much a wide spot in the road.

Ride Home

Something happened and I just wanted to share it with everyone. Last night riding home from work just enjoying a perfect bike riding night I was traveling through a rural area when suddenly three deer appear from nowhere. One shot completely across the road from left to right. The second one decided...

Re: changing the timing belts on 84 1200A

I replaced the timing belts on my 87 Aspencade about a month ago. It was an all day job for me. The one thing that kept going over and over in my head was...pay attention, pay attention, pay attention, one slight mess up and the engine it toast. I read, re-read and read some more ( Haynes manual, Ho...

Re: Gl1100 clutch

I thought mine was going out. Stranded me on the way to work. I described what it was doing on here and these guys dianosed it to a T. Turns out it was the clutch slave cylinder. Rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder and the clutch master cylinder while I was at it. Now it's perfect again. I don't know ...

Fork Oil

Someone made mention on here that you don't have to remove the forks to change the oil in them. I've got an 87 Aspencade and for the life of me I don't see a way to do it. Is it possible, if so HOW.

Re: Really Baffled

You guys are awesome!! Saved again by y'all. First the clutch slave/master, then the timing belts, now this. If you all keep this up I might just turn out to be a halfway decent Goldwing'er. Thanks a bunch.

Really Baffled

I've ordered a new passenger back rest for my 87 Aspencade. For the life of me I can't figure out how the old one comes off. I thought maybe it was fastened to the trunk lid and all I had to do was open the trunk, take some screws or nuts loose and put the new one on. Anybody know how to get the old...

Took the plunge

Today I tackled the timing belts. After tearing down what seemed like half the bike I was there. The 2 and 4 cylinder side went smooth as silk. Oh this isn't going to be so tough. WRONG! the 1 and 3 cylinder side was a ****. Everytime I'd put tension on the belt with the tensioner I'd check the cran...

Re: Clutch Problem

Good News, The girl is back up and purring like a kitten. You guys hit the nail on the head. After rebuilding the slave I ended up buying another MC. The old one was pitted really bad on the inside. Even though the new MC looked good and clean I thought it best to go ahead and rebuild it. If really ...
