Re: broken right side pocket cover

Thanks for posting this, I have the same problem , the door stays in place OK, when latched, but |I do want to make a more permanent fix, and that looks just right, just need some JB weld or similar and I will have a go at the modification.

Re: CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

Managed to find a UK supplier that will just supply the antenna, and not all the wiring and mounting posts etc, so hopefully I can swap the old for the new. I assume if I adjust the lengths of the new antenna to match the old, that it should work succesfully .

Re: CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

Hi, Have looked again at the antenna- removed the set screw and there is definitly something behind the screw, which I assume is a broken tip. However, if it is the broken tip and it is fully screwed in to the load cell, then it is not going to just drop out. I think it means I will have to go to pl...

Re: CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

OK, it was a cover over an allen keyed scew- a little carefull drilling got rid of it and I was able to get the screw out-sadly that did not help as the top will not screw back to the bottom still. So I think that screw is to keep the load coil together. Thanks for the advice about not glueing it bac...

Re: CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

I will give that a try- it certainly has not got an allen key fitting- I have tried with small allen keys and it does not turn at all. If all else fails, might need a new/second hand antenna.

Re: CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

Thanks Wingadmin, I have a similarily placed something, which does not look like it has a hexagon or whatever, shaped insert, that's what I was puzzled about. If it is an allen key shape, it must be incredibly small as it looks to me like a circular opening. I tried to see if it was a small cover ov...

Re: CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

Yes that is it, the load coil. There is a thread internally to the base of the load coil, and also on top of the lower section of the antenna, for it to screw on to apparently. There is a pin of some sort, but it does not seem like an allen keyed clamp at all- it looks to have a round centre to the ...

CB antenna has worked loose and won't screw back.

Hi, have a 1988 GL1500 J and the CB antenna has worked loose at the point where the black body, complete with tip, screws on to the lower part of the antenna. I have tried screwing it back down, but nothing seems to happen and it stays loose- I have taken it off in case it falls off whilst riding. I...

Re: Extended luggage capacity

They look a neat idea. Pity I already have a boot,(trunk) having triked my solo. I would possibly have gone for this myself if I still had the solo. Now an extended top box would be interesting ,there would be room to overhang the rear of my boot if there was such a thing.

Re: Trike mods

Yes I thought of rubber gloves and did buy some before I did the return run, only to find I could not get them over the heated gloves- I will look out for even larger ones next time. These were a nice blur colour, but you can get vivid yellow ones as well. As others are also recommending them from e...

Trike mods

Just spent a few days away from home whilst my trike (converted by Panther Trikes in the UK) was undergoing some upgrades. Had new raked triple tree and the forks rebuilt, new air shocks on the rear, and some fixes for a few niggles that were there after the conversion was done. They discovered the ...

OK- found my key number, it was a D-- code.
Asked three UK Goldwing suppliers if they can quote on it for replacements. Unfortunately the guy who supplies keys in California, is not available until 2nd February as his mother is ill.

Great, thanks for that- stupidly I had not thought about the other locks, but at the time I thought both sets of keys had gone and that I might have to do an emergency replacement.

How to identify the key code number for ignition key??

Hi All, Today I had a panic- my bike keys were not in my pocket, as they usually are. I searched high and low for them and they are missing. I thought, OK I have a spare set. No sign of them, the set normally lives within the documentation for the bike in a folder, but they were not there. Looked an...

Re: Collector Box

Thanks for looking Wingadmin, It IS a bad thing- wish I had known in advance and I would have bought a spare. We can get an aftermarket one by Motad here.

I wonder how many other parts for the GL1500 will suddenly become obsolete?

Collector Box

There has been some online discussion in the UK Goldwing owners forum about the collector box being declard obsolete for the GL1500 very recently, which means new ones are now unavailable from Honda- has this happened in the United States or Canada?

Re: Possible Trike Purchase...Questions

I agree about reverse- you do need it with a trike, especially with the running boards as you can't get your feet down to push backwards properly. Check for the suspension at the rear- has it got air shocks or standard. Also take it out on a bumpy road before you buy- my trike is great and has a sol...

I just got one like that from Cyclemax as well- going to wire in my light parade lights through that during winter early spring.
