Re: GL1500 1998 A - How do I access my reserve fuel tank?

Interesting! I even carried with me a 5gal gas can and ran my bike until it sputtered and stopped. I then filled my tank and it barely took the 5gal of gas. I could see the fuel all the way up to where it started to travel up the top of the gas tank.

Thx for your response in such a timely manner!

GL1500 1998 A - How do I access my reserve fuel tank?

I apologize for maybe asking a REALLY STUPID question, but can someone tell me if FIRST, it has a reserve fuel tank, and SECOND, how do I make it available to use?

When I fill the tank up (even when it is bone dry) I am able to put only 5 gallons in it. I thought the gw's had a 6+ gallon tank?.

Re: Adding an Aux input to the GL1500 radio

I really enjoyed the detailed instructions! One question... I own a 98 GL1500A. Will the mod work for this year of bike? Many thanks! I can answer my own question because I went ahead and took a chance! Although the pictures of the back side of the board (where the tracings are) were different from...

Re: How to free stuck pushbutton switches

Great article!

BTW, did you know that WD40 got its name by having gone through 40 iterations of formulas until they (the makers of WD40) settled on the current formula? Thus, WD40 really stands for "Water Displacement using the 40th formula"

I know, useless trivia :D

Re: How to replace your dash lights with LEDs

Is there any reason why you don't use the same model of LED's for all of the replacement bulbs? Other than using different bulbs because of the mount type, I understand. But if you're using the same mount type (194, 74, etc) why the different models? BTW, I absolutely loved this article you wrote!! ...

Re: 1998 GL1500A Position Lights/LCD Display

Thx for the reply. I will check the polarity, but I seem to remember that there are many LED's that are not polarity sensitive. I believe I purchased these types of LED's (non-polarity). But I've been known to have been wrong before (just ask my wife :D ).

Re: 1998 GL1500A Position Lights/LCD Display

I'm wondering if we are talking about the same thing ;) I'm not having issues with the "cornering lights" per se, but the "position lights" which I have always assumed to be the lights between the headlight and the signal light. I think the light is a "194" base. SO... my dilemna is that these two l...

Alas... Although the fuse was blown... which accounts for the clock issue, the front position lights still do not come on.

Re: 1998 Cornering Light Conversion???

I went to Pep Boys and purchased a "close" match as far as the socket goes and drilled a pilot hole into the outside flange of the new socket as well as a pilot hole into the back of the metal reflector of the light housing. I put a couple of yellow LED 1156 type bulbs in it and wha-lah! I have ligh...

1998 GL1500A Position Lights/LCD Display

When I purchased my ride I didn't notice that the "position" lights were not working. I replaced them with 194 LED's, and they are still not working. I am wondering if this is part of the problem I am having with the LCD display... When I turn on the bike the display will ALWAYS have the time of "3:...

1998 Cornering Light Conversion???

Please help :| I have a 98 GL1500A with cornering lights that I would like to replace (with led's). The problem is, unlike a current posting in the "How-To Articles", the socket for a 98 is different from what is shown and demonstrated in the article (It was, however, a great article :D ). Does any...

Re: How to replace your cornering light bulbs

The cornering light socket is a bit different on a 1998 GL1500A (which happens to be my bike). The replacement bulbs are REALLY weird as they are a two filament bulb. The bulb base has a 3-pronged plate about half way up the base (to keep the contacts in line with the socket)... which is weird too. ...
