Re: 81 gold wing 1100 Interstate vacuum advance

I'm Having trouble with my 81 wing. It will only reach a speed of about 65 mph not good when you are on the highway. It's like it is bogging out but I believe it has to do with the vacuum advance. nope was it the same (65 max) prior to the below work? I recently noticed that the hose that travels u...

Re: rear brake master cylinder question

i'm not aware of a test procedure for the rear m/c pressure control valve other than perhaps something like the rear easily locking up, there are no repairs as you mentioned, but, it can act up, the main prob given is, one speck of dirt can be a game changer, foreign matter can come into the picture...

Re: rear brake master cylinder question

So, after it was all cleaned out and dry, I put my mouth to it and blew, out of curiosity, to make sure everything was cleared out. (Don't judge me ..) There are 2 outlets that go from the master cylinder to the 2 brake lines. When I blew on the master cylinder, one outlet put out a lot more air th...

Re: rear brake master cylinder question

Yes, the pressure control valve in the master cylinder. Could it possibly be that the one outlet that is letting out the least amount of air goes to the closer rear brake caliper, which wouldn't need as much pressure. And the one opening that's letting a lot more air out, needs to let out more beca...

Re: Air shock rebuild fail

Can these shocks be used without any air? Yes, I realize that's load-dependent, but as long as I don't bottom out with the wife on the back, can it be done without damaging anything? no, forget the # but there is a speed restriction called out by honda for running no air, if the springs are origina...

Re: air compressor

have a close look at the air lines coming from the rear shocks & front forks that join up and come to the compressor, shouldn't be too hard to trace, prob something (disconnected?) obvious not right you could also use a soapy spray bottle to find leaks, could be a nicked line i'd also run it by the ...

Re: GL1100a 1982 Aspencade - rear brake caliper

Dad said his rear brake had seized up a year ago but had finally released on its own, so we both are anticipating it needing to be rebuilt. I would like to order the correct kit in advance of getting the bike here if I can. That being said, I'm very confused as to which kit I'll even need or where ...

Re: GL1100a 1982 Aspencade - rear brake caliper

82-3 are dual piston calipers, 2 calipers front, one rear if the parts n more link indicates a single piston caliper rear for 83, that would be incorrect, more likely it indicates i caliper rear, 2 fronts easy to get this mixed up if not familiar with terminology 1. Am I reading things right, that t...

Re: GL 1100 Interstate or Aspencade

I think all the aspy's have a on board compressor with the pressure gauge and controls for the air shocks Mr 4wred, if that's the case then I have an Aspencade. Thank you very much sir! aspy started 82 with a stock onboard compressor setup, but you could also get the onboard compressor setup as a s...
