Re: Motorcycle trailer question

It will bounce alot more with springs than without. It was loaded with 2 bikes and didn't bounce much at all. Ive seen alot of bike trailers with no suspension, no one complained about the ride. They all stated that they feel in holds the road better without leaf springs. The exception is air bags.

Re: Motorcycle trailer question

When I went and looked at it yesterday the guy had a HD roadglide bagger and an FXR on it strapped down. Both fit with room to spare so the 1800 will fit as well. It's actually wider than it looks in the photo. It's a custom built trailer, it has no suspension just the 2-16" tires with a 5" wheel of...

Motorcycle trailer question

I have a question for you folks who own bike trailers and use them. I have an opportunity to pick up a 2 bike trailer and I'm wondering how a 2 bike trailer tows with an 1800 on one side? Since I only own 1 bike it would likely never be used in a 2 up configuration. I can have it modified to a singl...

Re: Water jacket on head of 1500 Goldwing

The orings can be replaced on the pipes without removing the cylinder head but the intake manifolds really needs to be removed. The pipes fit into the thermostat housing and are clamp bolted to the top of the engine. You need to unbolt the thermostat housing assy to really do it right. I would sugge...

Re: 2006 Goldwing cooling fans

I've read of some interesting ideas to try and solve this issue. Adding fans or reversing fan blades won't solve it, the issue is simply that the fans shut off at to low of a speed to handle the engine heat load in slow moving traffic. Why Honda hasn't changed the program to a higher cut off speed is...

Re: 2006 Goldwing cooling fans

It made sense to me when I looked at how the system works. All the ECM does is supply a ground path for the relay based on temperature and or speed. Interrupting the ground path with an external ground doesn't effect how the system operates normally and won't effect the ECM. Just need to remember to...

Re: 2006 Goldwing cooling fans

You simply need to ground the cooling fan relay with a simple rocker switch. The ground wire at the relay is brown with a red tracer ( only wire that color feeding the relay). One side of the switch to the affore mentioned wire, the other side of the switch to a frame ground. This will override the ...

Re: Rear tire blow out

It's good to hear that you and your wife weren't seriously injured. I had a similar experience on my 1500 twice, both with Kenda tires. I replaced both front and rear with the oem recommended Dunlop tires and had no more issues. Like some of the earlier posts stated, the 1500 is a really heavy bike ...

Its a shame to have to do that but it will fix the issue permanently.. How much did he quote you to repair ? If mine ever needs fixing it would be nice to have a ballpark number?

Re: please help transmission trouble video

Same noise my 1500 made. Shift fork is worn and not centering the synchronizer , that's why it's rattling. The synchro fingers won't fully engage the gear causing premature wear. Only fix is a tear down and replace the worn parts. With it being so new with such low mileage maybe your dealer will ste...

Re: overheating GL1800

I wouldn't reverse the fans, they don't work well that way. If your engine is overheating over 30 mph you either have a thermostat issue or an air pocket in the cooling system. Since the radiator cap is the highest point in the system an air pocket would be easy to eliminate. Let the engine idle wit...

Re: overheating GL1800

I'm assuming that you checked the fans for proper operation? They come on at 15mph and below. Mine runs warm in slow traffic, I think they all do. The fan program really should be changed from 15 mph to 25mph, that would fix a lot of hot running issues. I have figured out a way to bypass the fan pro...

I understand completely. Give those folks a call and see what the cost is. They are close to the strip and I -15 and near 4 nice hotels, Orleans, Palms, Goldcoast and the Rio. They are off the strip and might have better rates.

Re: Vegas trip

Since your wife is good with traveling on your bike why don't you consider ditching the tow rig and trailer? You can get a pull behind trailer at Harbor Freight for under $400 or even a hitch mounted cargo rack and strap a suitcase to it? You have time to decide and you would save a lot of money and...

Re: Vegas trip

There is a storage facility in the center of town that has 24 hr gated access, its call Gerkes RV storage. 702-364-2515.They have a website you can contact to see how much they would charge for 2 weeks. Since it's a small rig if it's too pricey then you could drop the trailer and put it in my carpor...

Re: Vegas trip

Sounds like a nice trip. How big is your rig and trailer? Are you planning to stay in a hotel? I might be able to help you with parking if the truck and trailer aren't too long. As far as riding in the Vegas area I know lots of places if you don't mind a few hours in the saddle, I was born and raise...

Sorry. When you get a new windscreen installed drop by your dealer and get a can of Honda pro cleaner, stuff is great on plastic and water just beads off.

Re: Overtightened rear wheel nuts

I have a 36" 1/2" drive breaker bar and that's what I used. Easy to get to just too tight. I had my son helping me as well. They broke loose but took a lot of grunt.. they had a lot of surface oxidation on the threads so it's just another reason why cleaning and antisieze is the way to go. Everyone ...

Would be cool to hook up with someone headed that way..

Re: Overtightened rear wheel nuts

The tire was 3 years old when I purchased the bike last year. Its down to the wear indicators in the center but otherwise in good shape. It had 14 thousand miles when I pulled it. I`ve never gotten that much out of a rear tire on any bike I`ve ever owned, usually 10 to 11 thousand is it. It had the ...

Overtightened rear wheel nuts

I replaced the rear tire on my bike this weekend and had a heck of a time getting the wheel nuts broken loose. Why shops don't use anti sieze on studs and use a torque wrench is a mystery? The tire was replaced at a local Honda dealer 4 yrs ago, the nuts should have broken loose easily. I had it in ...

Re: 2001 multiple issues all at once

Start at the beginning. Check battery terminals for cleanliness and tight then check your ground connections. The battery ground is on the frame near the surge tank. Then test your alternator output. These are the 2 things that come to mind. If the ground is loose and has some corrosion it will caus...
