Re: Helmet Speakers

Have you contacted J&M customer service to see if they have a solution?

The next place I would check would be with Edsets and then Air Rider.

Re: 2nd Annual Gathering - 2018

Based on the above posts, it seem obvious to me that we should start a thread for a 2018 Gathering East and one for a 2018 Gathering West! This would allow for planning and input to be location specific and maybe even increase involvement. I would strongly suggest that they be well separated by time...

Re: Looking for referral -> Carborator Repair/ Rebuilding

swr1977, I have not used oldschoolcaarbs as I have never had a set rebuilt. I do know several folks who are pleased and the owner did a video with Jay Leno praising his work. Pistol Pete does excellent work according to all that I have heard. If you can find the info on Mike Nixon down in AZ, he is ...

Re: Engine oil

I am new to Goldwings and I need to know what oil to use and more importantly, where to check and add the oil? I know this sounds dumb but the only place I can see an access plug is behind the cylinders on the right side, and it looks like the transmission to me. I don't want to screw something up....

Re: GL1500 Bike and Tire Load-Rating, & Radial vs Bias-Ply

Most of the tire manufacturers have their own website where they list the tires by the bike they fit and then there are spec sheets that give info about the tires. If there is something in a spec sheet you don't understand, the answer can usually be solved by contacting the manufacturer or look it u...

Re: 2nd Annual Gathering - 2018

It is never too early to begin planning. Dates for such an event are better decided as far in advance so those not retired can plan their time off. Just to get the minds going fall is a great time but in many places you do have folks in RV's and such looking for the turning leaves. Late spring on ot...

Although I started this thread way back in February, health reasons have demanded that I do not attend. I have cancelled my reservation at the Inn. I would like to remind folks that there are a lot of fun things to see in the Hocking Hills. This is a very short list of stuff available: Hocking Hills...

Re: Master Cylinder rebuild for 1978 GL1000

I don't know if he has them but suggest you check with: www.randakks.co He has a lot of rebuild parts and kits. His stuff is high quality. While Randakk does sell the kits, his are almost $20 more. I would be willing to pay the extra money to insure good quality. Remember, you do get what you pay f...

Re: Less Stress To The Blue Ridge

Just wondering if you are aware the Blue Ridge Parkway does not start in Front Royal! That is the North end of the Sky Line Drive. The North end of the Blue Ridge starts at the South end of the Sky Line at Rock Fish Gap. I hope you are also aware of the charge/fee to enter the Skyline Drive. As I r...

Re: Intercom not working

If you are convinced it is the audio unit you might check with Larry at: http://www.wingconnect.com/

I think he responds to emails before phone calls. He repairs some of the units.

I'm sure others will offer simpler solutions with adjustments to the controls. They may work.

Re: Key not unlocking my trunk, key turns, nothing happens.

If under warranty or extended warranty, take to dealer and let them solve it. First thing I would do look for some youtube videos that perhaps describe how to open the trunk. If there is nothing in the tech section here, I would check at GLRiders.com as someone there may have a solution. If no luck ...

How long ago was it flushed out or bled? Might be time to redo and consider rebuilding the calibers, perhaps installing new brake lines, and cleaning the master cylinder.

I would start my looking at the battery and after testing it if okay then the next check is to clean and retighten the wires especially the various ground wires. Might help to loosen each one and clean it good before putting it back together. Then start checking the various connections in the electr...

Regarding those carbs I hope you have contacted Randaks for the parts. He probably has the best other than factory OEM. And you might talk to him about the book. He is really into restoring old Wings and probably can update you on the book and its value!

Re: 1800 Alternator

I have an 2004 and have never replaced the alternator. I don't think it is a common failure like it was with some earlier Wings.

There is always someone who has had any given part fail and there are those that ride several hundred thousand miles with no failures.

Re: 1800 wet clutch

The MSF used to teach to keep the bike in gear and use the clutch when at stoplights. This is a safety issue so if you need to pull off suddenly you do not waste time putting the bike in gear, you are already to go!
