Re: normal stator output gl1200

Ok, at idle I am getting 13.5 on meter by checking volts at battery terminals and as high as 15 volts at 3000rpm. New stator and reg/rectifier from Ricks Electric. Does this sound ok?

normal stator output gl1200

I just put a new stator and regulator/rectifier in my 1984 gl1200 from Ricks Electric. What is reading I should get for volts at the battery while engine is at idle and at 3000 rpm?

Re: Beads to balance tires

I have used dyna beads on a couple of bikes including gl1200 and 1800 but went back to weights. call me old fashion just seems like less hassle espesially if you spill them on garage floor.

1984 gl1200 stator replacement

Ok, so I have my engine out of bike and am ready to order parts to replace stator. Is there anything else I need to check while I have engine out and back cover off? Also where is a reliable source to get stator and other parts needed?

Re: Dupli-Tec GL1200 Alternator kit

That would be cheaper if I could do it myself however pulling the engine seems like a big job for someone who has never done it before. I cant imagine what a Honda shop would charge for such a job. I only gave 1500.00 for the bike and have ridden it 3 years. I like the way it rides but dont want it ...

Dupli-Tec GL1200 Alternator kit

Stator just fried yesterday on my 1984 Gl1200. Looking for alternative to pulling engine etc to replace. Poor boy conversion looks ok but I'm no fabricator so I need something bolt on. Came across Dupli-Tec kit and it looks and sounds pretty straight forward. 658.00 for complete kit. Anyone have any...

windshield for naked gl 1200

I have removed fairing etc from a 1984 gl 1200 Interstate. Was wanting to put a windshield on it for cool weather riding. Wandering if anyone has any suggestions. They did make a naked Wing in 84. Anyone with one of those have an aftermarket windshield/screen?

Re: How to install Dyna Beads in your tires

I have had them on my 1800 wing and on my drz400 dual sport. They work fine for me however balancing with weights seems just as good. One thing about tube type tires is it is very easy to install beads. You put them in tube before placing tube in tire.

A Goldwing / Bagger convertible... Not a bad idea but I'm sure it would add a lot to the price which is already quite expensive.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!

I have two Goldwings. A gl1200 that I rescued from a guy who quit riding for health reasons and a 08 gl1800 bought new. I stripped down the 1200 and made it a bobber/cruiser and believe me its the best riding cruiser I've owned and I've had several. This makes me think the F6B will be an awsome bagg...

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!

Friend of mine had a Valkery few years back and always complained of rear tire changes. I liked the bike but even with big windshield there was a lot of buffeting I remember. The 08 goldwing I have now is very smooth and perfect with windsheild at lowest setting. If it rains raise it up a few notche...

Re: Tires

I just replaced a set of Avon Cobras on my 08 Wing with Shinko Journey radials. The Avons handled very good but only got about 8500 miles. The front and back tires both wore out the same time which seemed a bit odd. Usually my back tire always goes first. Also rear tire was noisy when leaned over an...

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!

I think it's great that are making a bagger Wing. May appeal to younger crowd who wouldn't buy a regular Goldwing. I personally have a 08 1800 and have loved it from day one but also have a 84 1200 that I stripped down and bobbed out. There's no doubt which one gets the most looks. Took it to Deals ...

Thanks guys. I should have my parts to fix starter this week then I will try to get it back in. If it doesn't line up with gear I will try the magnet tecnique and if still can't get it I will put on side stand once I get forks back on.

1984 gl1200 starter removal

Have my bike up on centerstand working on forks. Decided to rebuild starter while waiting on parts for forks. After I pulled starter I read on some forum that bike has to be on sidestand to keep gear that is inside engine from coming off and falling down inside. The repair manual does'nt say anythin...

Re: My first,Post and goldwing

Hey man I'm new to this forum also. I bought a 84 Interstate recently and am making a bobber out of it. I to am having fork woes. I tried to replace seals with out pulling upper fork. Was unable to get seals to seat after several tries. I guess I will take to Honda dealer if I can't figure it out. A...

Re: Fork Seal Replacement and Oil Fill

I tried to replace fork seals by only removing lower portion of fork. Came apart fine but when it came to seating seal I was'nt able to get it to seat so I could put snap ring in place. I tried using a 1.5 in. pvc with no luck. Seems outer tube bushing was not letting seal go down into seat. I could...

Re: front fork seal replacement

I did some research and found that you can make a seal driver tool out of 1.5" pvc pipe. Cut a 4" length being sure to get it straight (square) on ends. Now cut it lengthwise down the center. When you are ready to drive new seal in, place the two pieces around upper fork and put two hose clamps on t...
