Re: Bloomington or Madison Indiana - what would you do?

Not to hijack the post, but when you say Indiana I can't help but go back in my memory to my Indiana experience. On the interstate in a brand new truck. Working in Ohio but on my way home to Texas for Christmas. About dusk, beautiful Indiana countryside about sundown. In a split second's time. Up-c...

Bloomington or Madison Indiana - what would you do?

I am thinking about a 2 day trip, one overnight. I am in Nw Indiana. I am thinking the Bloomington/ Brown County regions because of the winding, hilly, wooded motorcycle roads around Nashville and Morgan Monroe State Forest etc. I was there last year, but just passing through and it was amazing. Wha...

Re: GL1800 Dead Battery????

You dont say how old the battery is but it shows all the symptoms of 1 or more bad cells in it. I would definitely replace it. When I ride mine I keep it on a maintainer after all of my rides. I also keep my wifes car on a maintainer also. She uses it very infrequently and between the alarm and oth...

GL1800 Dead Battery????

2 questions: 2004 GW Can a little excess moisture in the garage kill a battery? (I have a sump pit in the garage) Will jump starting a GW with a car kill the battery or wiring etc? Whats the quickest way to be sure I am charging fro the alternator? History: I recently found both my spare car and mot...

Re: Sunglasses - what do you use?

While we're talking about glasses, has anyone else tried wearing the yellow 'shooters' glasses while riding at night. I found that they almost completely eliminated the glare from oncoming headlights. It feels strange to begin with but it seems to remove all the haze at dusk/dark and I feel like I ...

I do not think so, they mount to the bottom of the mirror, there must be a threaded hole there.

The bike is Titanium and the previous owner put on the red. Not my taste.

Re: Sunglasses - what do you use?

I did not know Harbour Freight also had the UV ones. I pass by their store on Monday's, so I think I will stop in and get some today and start using them full time on the commute and on the bike. I picked them up today. Identical fit to the ones for $1.49. They claim 99.9% UV A&B blocking. $3.99 pe...

Re: Sunglasses - what do you use?

I found really cheap tinted "safety glasses".They wrap around with a wide viewing angle. No rim on these.Really cheap stuff, very thin arms. I use the same safety glasses from Harbour Freight. Both clear and smoked. For those who ride without helmets (no longer me) they work excellent in the wind and...

Re: Flying Blind! No lights, no power, no engine at night

I cannot swap the battery with my 1984 - 1200, different size. This is a Yuasa battery which I believe is the AGM type - can those break from bouncing? Remember, the battery was loose in there. They absolutely can. In fact, I know of a 1200 rider who found his bike intermittently dead after a few d...

Re: Flying Blind! No lights, no power, no engine at night

Ok, I assume there is no way to test for that, but I will bump and bounce the battery a bit while its running. Can anyone confirm 1000% that a bank angle sensor, under any condition, would not kill the entire bike, lights and all? From there remove tank and check main ground block, still have heard ...

Re: Flying Blind! No lights, no power, no engine at night

I replaced the lower half of the ignition switch and added a ground to the frame from the battery. I went on a three day trip and all was good until the last hour. This time during the daylight it shutoff twice within about 10 seconds for about 1 second and resumed as normal while setting the cruise...

GL1800 in line lighter fuse?

So the fuse in my lighter was blown - I have a buss type fuse in line under the pocket. I have a small 12v air compressor and I replaced the fuse which read 250v? Very small fuse - what size is safe or needed to run this little air compressor? It blows the fuse when I turn it on.

Re: 2004 GL1800 Tamper Proof ignition bolts?

I have heard of people having to drill these bolts out. You can replace with regular bolts or get OEM ones. I have never had to do it though. Hope all goes well in your task. I think others will be able to simply use visegrips as I did, or at worst file the edges slightly to get a flat surface to g...

Edsets without speakers?

I would like to use full face helmets and use a surface mic and ear buds, no speakers.

I know I need the Edset surface mics, the 3.5 mm adapters and the 5 pin cables, but I don't understand how the 5 pin cable connects to the surface mic at the helmet?

Are his mics even better than others?

I know this happens on 1500's so try it on yours. When you start the bike and If it is not the problem, I hope some newer bike owners come up with your solution. Re: Flying Blind! No lights, no power, no engine at night

So my recently purchased Goldwing gave me three scares tonight. Took a nice long ride at night. When I pulled in for dinner, I noticed the kickstand kill switch had stopped working. Re: Riding around southern Ohio

Southern Ohio has some of the best biking roads anywhere, I think. Just amazing. I spent a couple days with myhttp://www.themicrocamera.com and it works great!
